Episode Recap
First, we see three mechanics tearing apart a robot. Nearby, we see a heap of other robot parts, making it obvious that these guys are throwing them away. We see some circuitry with energy flowing through it, and one of the mechanics says he hears a voice. We see the robots being dumped into a ravine, we hear the voice as saying, "Driving…driving…" The circuits glow as more energy shoots through them. A bolt of lightning then cracks down from the rain-clouds and hits the pile of robots. Steel tentacles come out of the heap and they begin to grab the pieces and draws the pieces together… Astro and his friends are guiding a group of 1st graders at the amusement park on a field trip. Astro notices a young boy by the name of Jack Fuller who seems less than enthused. He asks about the problem, but Jack says he's fine and wanders off. Not too far away, a giant mass of metal has formed itself into a robot with a singular robotic conscience. O'Shea is immediately notified and gets to work on finding out exactly what is happening. He figures out that the mass is indeed multiple parts of robots that had gone missing in recent weeks. Jack runs off and starts drawing on the ground somewhere. He scrapes a picture of himself and a robot in the ground, moping as the other visitors walk by. It happens that at that time, the robot arrives at the theme park. Everybody takes off, but it catches Jack before he gets away. It recognizes the boy and reaches out to grab him. At that moment, Astro flies in and pushes against the hand. Jack gets away and cheers on Astro, unaware of the fact that his attacker is also his best friend. Astro battles the robot, eventually falling through the ground. While Astro is trapped in the hole with it, he shares an intimate moment with the robot. Through the miracle of holographic projection, Astro sees the robot at the core was once little Jack Fuller's caretaker and best friend. Not long afterwards, the two of them escape the hole for the final battle. It is revealed to Jack that the robot is his friend. O'Shea identifies the core robot as a household type by the name of 'AL.' Naturally, the cops think the robot poses a threat to the boy and attack him. Astro flies in and scoops up Jack, flying to safety as the giant robot is blasted back. AL jumps back out in his humanoid form (which we saw in the flashbacks). He embraces the boy, and we enjoy a very happy ending.
