At Home with the Braithwaites

Show Summary

"At Home With the Braithwaites" is a production for the British ITV. Peter Davison and Amanda Redman are starring as David and Alison Braithwaite in this brilliant mixture of comedy and drama. Four seasons were made, and were broadcast from January 2000 to April 2003. The story begins with Alison being given a European lottery ticket by her youngest daughter Charlotte for her 40th birthday and guess what - she happens to be the winner of £38m. First Alison cannot believe it herself and then she is afraid of how such sudden wealth will affect her family, so she decides to keep a secret, and use the money to help others. She uses her middle name and her maiden name to create Jane Crowther and sets up a charity called the Jane Crowther Trust. The first season is mostly about Alison's efforts to keep the secret of the lottery winnings from her family. The humour in the show gets darker from season to season. Infidelity, jealousy, a lesbian wedding and murder all being part of, not to mention the loss of the money due to a legal technicality and its subsequent return. Amazing ups and downs in every single episode!moreless
