    Self Sabotage

An ok episode, with a touch of irony when Noah says that everything is easy for Betty. Ha, yeah right.

The running thing didn't factor in much but I thought that Penelope's revenge was sweet. Betty coming in second shows though that she never wins at truly everything like some characters in other shows do, but atleast she does beat her enemies every time.

The anniversary bit was a tad over the top yet it worked out great that the remote was in the garbage. We see alot more of Minimus' head turning than I would have ever thought possible. X-5 putting himself back together was cool yet it crossed the realm of the possible.

I loved how Betty used her bracelet to break her bonds, it can come in quite useful sometimes. Guess Maximus should look out for that in the future.

    Crass Menagerie

A really good episode, the earth plot came to intertwine with the space plot in a really funny way when she blocked up the pipe with the book. You gotta feel sorry for Noah though, being locked up in the cage by the librarian. It kinda illustrates how so many people think librarians will really do that to you though.

Orange flavoured gel, yum. The librarian went a little overboard but Maximus was perfect with the hating orange piece.

Sparky's photo ops were comical and the three headed thing posing for the pic was super cute. The fact that he came back to rescue them in the end also shows that the golden rule applies to space "Treat others how you would want to be treated"

Betty's getting a "fat head" was over dramatized by Sparky but it shows some of the tensions on the team and that not everything is always hunky dory like they make it out to be. Teamwork is also heavily emphasized here, and rightfully so. Good friends are some of the most important things that you can have.

Classical, especially Maximus getting trapped by his own design.

Together, I'd rate these two episodes 7.5 out of ten. I definetly think people should watch these, you shouldn't miss out on them.moreless
  • Betty is having a tough time with things, plus Minimus at his very best...

    8.5
I'll admit it now--"Self Sabotage" is probably my favorite episode in the series, partially because Minimus acted like a complete darling--for Minimus, anyway. The real story is that Maximus has created a satellite that can control flying objects and send them crashing into things, and Betty, Sparky and X-5 must stop him--only one problem...Sparky put the controls in completely backwards and X-5 keeps falling apart! Betty and the others are soon captured thanks to Maximus's device, where Maximus threatens to blow up the planet Earth. Betty must stop him from doing any serious damage and still get back to school to finish her gym final.

The simulation with Earth being destroyed was quite chilling--you actually believe that Betty is in danger. I'll give Max this, he definitely makes some damned good simulations.

My favorite part of this episode, though, is the backstory between Maximus and Minimus. It's their 28th anniversary of their partnership, and Minimus tries to surprise Maximus with a gift that he made himself--a remote designed in Maximus's image and working similarly to Maximus's satellite remotes. Maximus doesn't care for it and tosses it--luckily for Betty's team. Minimus spends most of the episode acting like a petty, obedient housewife, whimpering over Maximus's displeasure in him and also getting angry at him for throwing the remote away in the first place. It was positively adorable--just to show that the two have a love-hate relationship. Minimus obviously loves Maximus, but Maximus hates Minimus...ah, the conflicts of amoure. Heartwarming, nonetheless. :)

In "Crass Menagrie" Betty has an even tougher time than usual. Maximus finds a way to tap into her bracelet system and lures her to an art studio, desguised as a famous artist and claiming that he wants a statue of her built. Betty wants Sparky and X-5 to be part of the statue, too, but eventually leads to her rejecting them. Just as Sparky and X-5 walk off in a huff, Maximus springs his trap, leaving Betty immobilized. He takes her away just as Sparky and X-5 come in to declare that they quit the team--and find Betty gone. Deciding to take a responsible choice--or for whatever the reasons the two have--they set out to find Betty, who, meanwhile, is about to become part of Maximus's menagerie collection of species throughout the galaxy. But once again it's Sparky and X-5 to the rescue, a real deed of friendship. Betty apologizes to them for acting like such a "fathead", and frees them--with a little help from Sparky's new friends.

Meanwhile, Noah is trapped in the library because he lent Betty a book that she never returned--and let me tell you this...stay the hell away from THAT library.moreless
  • Betty must face several different challenges and get back to earth to win a race. Plus, Maximus gets a little zoo...evil zoo.
