- Well, as I suspected this is a listed building, grade 2. Listed Buildings. A listed building is a building that is deemed to be of, "special architectural or historic interest ". The renovation of such buildings is carefully controlled and in some cases forbidden. English Heritage - officially known as the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England, is the statutory adviser to the British Government on the historic environment.
