Augie prepares his dad a birthday cake and a couple of presents. He goes in and wakes his dad and gives him his first present, a ten gallon cowboy hat. His dad likes the the hat and Augie takes him into the next room and tells him to open his big present. Doggie Daddy opens it and it is a horse named Rosco. Doggie Daddy doesn't want to keep the horse and Augie is disappointed and his dad reluctantly agrees to keep the horse to make his son happy.
Rosco causes all kinds of mayhem and tries to apologize, but Doggie Daddy refuses to accept the apology until Rosco takes him for a ride and he slams into the wall. Augie then asks his dad how he feels about a father and son being separated and Doggie Daddy tells him that that is wrong and that should never happen. Augie introduces Rosco Jr. and now they have two horses. Doggie Daddy asks what they are going to do with two horses in the house and Rosco and his son hop up on the mantle and they make themselves useful as bookends.
