Although it's unclear whether Mike and Bryan are making the new series about Avatar, it was still announced by Nickelodeon. But, honestly, whatever these guys make, I'm definitely watching.

"Nickelodeon has "Avatar" creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko developing a new series, too, Zarghami said."

    EDIT 7/22/10

    Korra?

"The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the end of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang, who is a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenage girl from the Souther Water Tribe named Korra."

Korra's quest eventually leads her to Republic City, the epicenter in the world of "Avatar". A metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology, the city is inhabited by people from all the nations. Korra finds Republic City suffers from rampant crime and is also dealing with an anti-bender revolt. Korra is tutored by Aan's song, Tenzin, in the ways of airbending.

    EDIT 7/23/10

The Track Team is returning to score The Legend of Korra! They haven't started work yet, but it was confirmed after their panel at Comic Con.

    EDIT 8/2/10

    Legend fo Korra

    (Source and quote from www.lastairbenderfans.com)

Toonzon.net recently participated in a roundtable discussion with the voice/casting director of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Andrea Romano. Andrea also happens to be the voice/casting director for The Legend of Korra, which according to the discussion, is already in the progress of voice recording.

TZN: Will you be working on the new Avatar: The Last Airbender series?

ANDREA ROMANO: I already am. I've recorded three episodes. It's seventy five years in the future.

TZN: Will Aang in any way be in the series?

ANDREA ROMANO: I don't know how much of the series I'm allowed to tell you, but that whole generation has died. It's the next generation. So it's really cool. It's the same producers. It's the same brilliant attention to detail and I'm very excited. Right now we are just making twelve of them and we'll see what happens.

Supposedly a 12 part mini-series, The Legend of Korra is said to set for debut in late 2011."

    EDIT 8/5/10

UGO intereviewed The Track Team on how they came to find the first series, and their thoughts on the scoring of The Legend of Korra.

And here's a first glimpse at the Korra animation on a Korean blog!

    EDIT 12/4/11

Mike and Bryan have stated not to re-post the opening credits for the new series, so I will not post it here. However, the new opening was leaked and can be seen. You just have to find it.

    Things to note:

Tenzin is the one who is narrating.

The first book is called "Air."

The first chapter is called "Welcome to Republic City."

I was wondering where they went! They kind of vanished for awhile. I'll watch it. I'll watch it and love it (probably, once we learn what it's about).

That'd be nice, but didn't Bryke say that Aang and Zuko's stories were over at the end of the series? I thought they weren't going to use the original characters.

This reminds me of the Friends spinoff: Joey!. Anyway, like Flutter said Aang's saga is over, the series will most likely have nothing to do with him, at most it might be in the same universe, but it could still be a completely unrelated series about something completely different.

So just to stir the pot a bit, I thought I'd mention Nickelodeon is officially hiring a couple positions for an "unnamed, Avatar miniseries".

    Let the wild speculation commence.
