  • The Cave of Two Lovers

The Cave of Two Lovers was a perfect and entertaining episode of Avatar The Last Airbender. I really enjoyed watching this episode because it had a unique and interesting story of two lovers who became the first Earthbenders, learning from Badger-Moles. Aang and Katara share an awkward yet romantic journey as Sokka and the nomads encounter huge beasts. The story of the lovers was cool, and the key to getting through the caves was awesome. Appa does not like being underground, that is for sure! I was very surprised by the ending and I look forward to watching the next episode!!!!!!!
  • This was one of the show's better episodes.

This was one of the funnier episodes. The nomads were very funny (especially when Chong told Sokka "at least you have us" and Sokka screamed). Then there is Uncle Iroh. He was deciding whether the plants he found were safe to eat or dangerous (like when he said "delicious tea, or deadly poison").

This episode also shows romance between Aang and Katara. For one thing, when Aang is training, he blushes when Katara grabs his arms. Katara also blushes several times in this episode, which seems to give away that she might have a crush on Aang. As for when the lights go out in the cave, it's our opinion whether Aang and Katara really did kiss or not.

Now I just have one question. How can anyone think Zuko and Katara will wind up together. Zuko is still after Aang and Katara is one of Aang's protectors. Also, aren't Zuko's actions when he is around Katara enough to show he hates her? He taunted her for stealing in "The Waterbending Scroll," tried to kill her in "The Siege Of The North Part 1," and shot fire at her when she offered to help heal his uncle in "The Chase." So how can anyone think they could possibly wind up together?
  • Where did all this funny come from?

Did the Avatar storyboard consist of the same comedic team that did The O.C.? It sure feels like it. Avatar has never been this funny and clever before. If only the nomads were a staple in the cast because damn they're just a funny addition to the roster. Although the jokes they said were really really stupid, it was just so stupid it became funny. Plus Iroh was pretty funny himself. Where people really found value in this episode though is the potential developing love relationship that is going on between Aang and Katara. It started off as comedy with Aang's lack of game and wrong choice of words, then it became a pretty nicely executed love story. Zuko's part of the story was also pretty interesting too. And the best part? It ended leaving you in anticipation as the kingdom they journeyed so far to get to is captured by the Fire Nation.

This episode was alright, but not one of my favorites. It did have its moments though. For example, while wondering through the cave, Sokka is constantly hitting his forehead with his palm because the peace-loving singers and dancers traveling with him are annoying him. The best part of this episode was when Aang and Katara were traveling through the tunnels together. They came to realize that the only way to make it safely to the exit of the cave was to show some affection towards each other. They both lean down to kiss each other afterwards. Unfortunately, the light went out at that moment and we do not know if they truly kissed.
  • This episode is perhaps the show's most romantic one.

Kataang alert! This episode heavily involved Aang and katara to be together and showed some romance! This episode proves that Aang and Katara are meant for each other, because in the cave, they show signs of love for a relationship. Yet the Zutarians still refuse to believe that even if they have seen this episode. What are they stubborn? Kataang rules all the way baby! You can tell that from the beginning and even more in this episode if you pay attention to certain love signs. Well, this was another awesome episode in the great book two! I can't wait to see what more this book has in store to offer! Oh wait, I already seen all the chapters in this book. Well still, I would love to see more great episodes in this book on tv again! It would make us Avatards happy and excited to see it again! I loved seeing them go through all those tests and trials to survive and get through the cave too! Sokka tries to rescue them with a different group of people, They are all trying to figure out ways to get them out, so Aang can go to Omashu to learn some earth bending from Bumi!
  • An okay episode, mainly good because of the Kataang relationship.

What really makes The Cave of Two Lovers good is the Kataang relationship throughout the episode. The segments with the two by their selves were the best in the episode. They were cute and included a dialogue exchange that made me laugh. I didn't really like the other things intended to be funny in this episode, but that's just me. Not only that, I didn't like Sokka's segments in this episode, but that's because I didn't like the idea of the the fact they escaped on badger-mole calmed by playing instruments. I didn't like the idea of the changing tunnels, and using love to find your way out at first, but I ended up liking, simply because of the Katara/Aang segments.

This episode also includes some segments of Zuko and his encounters with other people who don't know he's from the Fire Nation. I liked these segments, and wished it could've been a bit longer. I also wish there was more action, or to somehow make the Sokka segments more entertaining. Still, this one was above average.
  • On their way to Omashu to begin Aang's earth bending lessons with King Bumi, Team Avatar comes across a group of singing nomads and an interesting journey ensues.

This is one of my least favorite episodes from Book Two. This episode is intentionally goofy and it has its comedic moments. Nevertheless, some of the comedy is lost on me. It is not that I do not understand the comedy, but that I do not find it funny. The back story explaining the origin of earthbending felt contrived to me. It was if it was included for the sole purpose of setting up a possible Aang and Katara kiss. The subplot involving Iroh and Zuko was a welcome addition to the episode. Seeing the once great general and crown prince struggling to survive was poignant. This is not a terrible episode, but it is also not a great episode.

this episode was soley for kataang.

for poeple who dont know, it is katara+aang.

    you know love?

well technically they had to kiss to get out of there alive but the fact that katara suggested this make me think of katanng all the way.

they really did a good job secretly telling the viewers of this love line.

they really did a good job@

they didnt flat out tellt hem that it was goingo to be kattang.

hey viewrs! katara loves aang and aang loves her back!

    NO that was stupid.

and i am proud of the avatar tem to do this.

i love avatar and i will forever.

    AVATAR!!

    forever.
  • It was definitely one of the better ones, with lots of laughs and a great leap of development for the AxK relationship.

This episode was wonderful, absolutely wonderful. It was definitely one of the more funnier episodes, and the new characters were perfect. They really made the whole episode not seem so romance-focused. And their personalities were just so perfect for this kind of episode, they were absolutely hilarious. Zuko's situation was shocking, and the fact that he stole that animal thing was, though some people may disagree, downright low. I think it just goes to show that Zuko isn't all nice deep down after all though. Wonderful way to show his character though, and I loved the girl!

The romance was also rather nicely milder than I would have expected. I suppose it was the title that made us assume it was romance-centered though. But the kiss was very sweet, and I'm not only saying that because I support katang 100 percent, lol. Really, this episode was wonderful. It's going on my top 10.

This was the second episode of Avatar I watched, which explains why I am a Kataanger. This episode possibly had a kiss, but off screen. It also shows they truly love each other, for they got out the cave and to get out the cave you need to let love lead the way. This episode was great for other things too.We learned about the history of Omashu. It was named after the two lovers. We also got to see Sokka facepalm throughout the episode! But those singers were so annoying, you can't blame Sokka.Oh well, one thing can't ruin the entire episode. And this episode was back when I hated Zuko.Even though I like Zuko now,I still wonder why he stole that animal from that girl who helped him.I know he was the enemy back then but it was still wrong.Oh well,I still rate it a 10/10.You can thank this episode for gaining another Kataanger.

Aang and Katara practice Waterbending, while Sokka is relaxing in the middle of a lake. A group of Earth Kingdom nomads then appear, displaying the characteristics of a carefree, nature loving people. Once the Avatar's group reveal their plans to travel to Omashu, Chong speaks of a short cut through a tunnel passing under a mountain. Although Sokka does not want to trust these new characters, the kids later follow the nomads to the tunnels after an unsuccessful attempt to fly over the mountains due to Fire Nation catapults placed there. Just before our heroes enter, Chong mentions that the tunnels form a labyrinth protected by a curse. Only those who put their trust in love can find the way through; those who don't will be forever lost. Once they enter, a group of pursuing Firebending tanks destroy the entrance to the tunnels, trapping everyone inside. Scared but undeterred, Sokka plans to create a map while traveling though the labyrinth, but gradually finds that the map is useless due to the fact that the tunnels are changing around them. The nomads plan to all stick together so no one gets lost. Oddly enough, this plan does not work and the group is separated by a cave-in caused by Appa's panic at being underground, exacerbated by an attacking wolfbat and a carelessly wielded torch. Aang's quick action saves everyone from being crushed by the falling rocks, but the group is separated. Aang, Katara, and Appa are in one group, while Sokka and Momo are forced (to his great displeasure) to travel through the tunnels with the musical nomads, who assure him that he should not "let the falling rocks turn his smile into a frown." After traveling for what is estimated at three hours, Aang and Katara encounter a large tomb designed for the "two lovers" spoken of in lore. By reading script around the walls, they discover the true story of the "two lovers": two adults from feuding towns met at the top of a mountain. Although it was dangerous to meet, the loving couple found a way to continue their relationship in secret. After learning Earthbending by observing the natural skills of badgermoles they created a labyrinth which only they could navigate as a place to be together. However, one day the man did not come; he had been killed in the war between their two people. While the woman's fury was initially expressed in a display of Earthbending prowess which could have destroyed both of the warring towns, she instead declared the conflict at an end. The two villages later created a city to honor the couple's love, which eventually grows into the city of Omashu (the names of the lovers are revealed to be Oma and Shu, whose names were joined together). The final line in the script states "love is brightest in the dark." Katara is inspired by this to suggest a possible way to solve the labyrinth; perhaps by following the example of the lovers and kissing, she and Aang could find the way out. Although Aang (due to his unexpressed but growing affection for Katara) finds this idea highly intriguing, he attempts to reassure an embarrassed Katara that he could not imagine kissing her. When she seems put out by this response, he assures her that what he meant was that, in choosing between certain death and kissing her, he would definitely choose to kiss her ("It's a compliment!") This cools the ardor between them for a while, but later, as the torches are burning out, desperation (and possibly affection) lead them to dare the unknown. As the torchlight fades, we see them leaning toward each other, closing their eyes. In the resulting darkness, Aang and Katara find out that the two lovers put glowing crystals showing how to get out of the tunnel, and these crystals only glow in the dark. Finally, the two (plus Appa) get out of the tunnel. Sokka and the nomads continue to find dead ends in their quest for the exit, and eventually are confronted by a pair of enormous badgermoles, who corner the group. As Sokka tries to escape, he accidentally touches a dropped guitar which makes a sound. The angry badgermole pauses, intrigued, and Sokka tries to play a song to pacify the beast. The nomads quickly realize what he is doing, and contribute their talents. They are successful in taming (or at least pleasing) the badgermoles, who take them to the exit of the labyrinth, where they are reunited with Aang, Katara, and Appa. After the badgermoles leave them, Katara notices a big red rash on Sokka's head, which was the result of him hitting himself every time the nomads do something stupid; Chong announces that he thinks the one painted with tatoos is the Avatar, forcing Sokka to hit himself again. Meanwhile, Zuko and Iroh, are trying their best to survive on their own. Things are not so easy for the formerly pampered characters though -- Zuko can not find food and Iroh ends up consuming a dangerous plant in the wild (he thought it was a legendary tea plant). He then finds berries which could cure him or give him blindness. Zuko tells him they aren't taking anymore chances and throws the berries away. After thinking whether they should go to an Earth Kingdom village (which would risk capture and execution) or going to a Fire Nation town (which would risk being turned over to Azula), both decide to travel to an Earth village for medicine and food. They then meet a friendly girl named Song. She asks what their names are. Zuko says his name was Lee and Iroh's name was Mushi; Iroh gets him back by saying he was named for his father so they call him Junior. The episode becomes much more interesting when Song, speaks of her father's capture when the Fire Nation raided her village. She then asks Zuko whether his father is fighting in the war as well and Zuko admits it, but does not tell her that his father is the Fire Lord. Minutes later, Zuko sits on the front porch. Song sits next to him and realizes that the Fire Nation has hurt Zuko as well. When she tries to touch his scar, Zuko rebuffs her. She then shows Zuko a Firebending burn on her leg, sympathizing with him and showing him that the Fire Nation hurt her as well. Surprisingly, Zuko seems shocked by her injury. This seems to be a turning point for Zuko, but a final scene proves otherwise. Once Zuko and Iroh leave the small family at night, Zuko steals the family's Ostrich Horse for easy traveling. Song witnesses this event, but did not stop them. She instead just closes her door as Zuko and Iroh left. Concluding this, Aang, Sokka, and Katara finally get to Omashu. When the gang sees the Fire Nation has taken Omashu they are devastated.

On their way to Omashu, Aang, Katara, and Sokka meet a group of nomads who show them a shortcut through the "Cave of Two Lovers." But when the group becomes trapped in the cave, it's up to Aang and Katara to save the group by trusting in love and possibly questioning their relationship. Meanwhile Iroh gets a lethal rash so Zuko and Iroh head to a small Earth Kingdom town for help, hoping their real identities will not be discovered. What I liked was that there was some shipping development. not everything should be action and stuff right? show reruns!!!!

This episode is so funny and awesome! so The gang meets a group of nomad singers and their leader is chong, I love how Dee baker voices him! so they go to a Cursed cave where they need to trust in love or DIE!!! :P Chong's songs are so awesome and Katara and Aang's relationship keeps developing! and the animation style on how the story of the two lovers was truly beautiful! the story was portrayed well too. so Katara and aang kissed in the dark, I do think that they kissed, how else would the crystals light up? and this is the first time we see badgermoles. at the end katara is seen blushing! yes! I so love this eppy!
  • A great example of Kataang, this episode was amazingly good considering the loose plotline. Long live Kataang!

A great example of Kataang, this episode was amazingly good considering the loose plotline. Long live Kataang! I thought it was very funny and gets an 8.9 for some glitches in the animation and a few mistakes, such as Sokka having rocks fall onto him and not be hurt, when he should have been in extreme pain for the rest of the episode. The songs were very funny and the origin of earthbending was also explained, which I liked. Bader moles! They're huge!

Over all it was pretty good. How can you argue with such great Kataang? Two thumbs way up!
  • Not a bad episode, some funny lines. Developes the relationship between Aang and Katara a lot.

The episode starts out with Aang and Katara practicing waterbending, and doing a drill of a fight. Aang was learning a new waterbending move called the octopus. Then a bunch of nomads come along and talk about a secret love cave and all of that kind of stuff. It was not a bad episode actually. It had me bored for a while, but I review it for the goal of 100 reviews. Anyhow, this episode was not bad a t all. The gang's goal is to find a earthbending teacher for Aang. They want Bumi to do it, so they try to go to Omashu to find him, but soon they find out that the Earth Kingdom city of Omashu is under attack. Under attack by Princess Azula and the Fire Nation.

Okay, the one thing I hate about this episode is that this episode had NO ACTION!!! But, it was a very funny Avatar: The Last Airbender episode. Probably the funniest of Season 2. I sure hope Aang didn't kiss Katara, they better not have! I do not want them to end up together. When Zuko found out Uncle Iroh had poison, Iroh said. "Zuko, remember that plant I thought that was tea?" Then Zuko said "You didn't?!" Iroh said "But I did, and it wasn't. But, what I did find is the White Jade Bush, which cures deadly diseases, or it's the Red Jade Flower, which causes blindness." Zuko said "We're not taking any chances on these flowers!" That couple of seconds was funny. Overall, I give it an 8.4.

Aang, Katara and Sokka met with a group of carefree nomads, soon after, they were trapped by the fire nation army, and were forced into a secret and ancient cave which had a old history of how two lovers created the tunnels in the cave.

The gang was in great panic after they discovered that the tunnel of the cave is actually changing all the time by some reasons. Later Appa was scared by some beasts and the cave was damaged by his sudden movements, he seperated Katara and Aang from the rest of the group. uring their seperate journey, Katara found a secret tomb where depicted the story of the two lovers, while Sokka and the rest found badger-moles and get of the cave by playing music. Katara and Aang got out by trusting in love, and let love lead the way.

This episode depicted a relationship between Aang and Katara that more than just friendship, it seems the creators are hinting something, something beyond the story of a goofy kid and a young girl.
  • This is my personal favorite episode of the seiries. It has action, comedy, and even a little romance. If you need an episode to make you watch this show, watch this one!

This is the second episode of book two after The Avatar State. They are on their way to Omoshue. They meat a couple of nomads, who remind you of hippies. This is great because Sokka is verry siency and puting him with a couple of hippies makes for great comidy. The nomads tell the gang about a secret love cave to Omashoe. After trying to fly their and being atacked by fire nation they decide the best way to go is though the love tunnles. So the gang and the nomads go to the tunnles and the fire nation caves the tunnle in behind them. By this time Sokka is informed that there is a curse that only those that trust in love can make it through, others will be lost in the tunnles forever. They have enough candals for ten hours to get out of the tunnles. Soon after ariving they realise that the tunnles are changeing. And then Aang, Katara, and Appa get sepperated from Sokka, and the nomads. Aang, Katara, and appa find a tomb in the center if the labereth of tunnles. Inscribed on the tomb is the legend of the two lovers. You'll have to watch the show if you want to find out what it is. As they are running out of light Aang and Katara are about to kiss but you nver find out if they do because the lights go out. When the lights go out they find out that there are glow in the dark crysles that show the way out. Meanwhile Sokka is left alone with the nomads whitch is verry funny, they get cornered by Badgermoles who can earth bend. Sokka thinks he is about to get eaten when he finds that the badger moles like musik. Sokka and the others ride the badgermoles out of the cave and meet up with Aang and Katara. After that they go (without the nomads) to Omahsou, only to find that it has ben taken over by the fire nation. It has lots of cool stuf including a great clifhanger ending. This is the best episode ever!

I thought this episode was great! I loved to watch it, it was funny smart and well written. Aang and friends must enter an old cave said to have a curse. They meet a few singing hippies that speak of the caves ledgend and story. The fire nation is closly following them behind so they must go through to cave if they hope to escape. Once inside the cave, there is a rock slide and Aang and Katara are separated from the group. This is where the romance of this episode begins. I liked this episode because of it's romance, thus great evidence of Kataang. Overall, great episode.

This ep explores the idea of a relationship between Aang and Katara (kataang rules!!!), but it was well written. This ep was very comical becuse there are hippies in the avatar world who we meet in this ep, and who have great songs that you won't stop singing. We also learn more about earth bending in this ep, how it got started and why. Also Zuko and Iroh start to travel on their own and meet an new character who has something in common with Zuko,

the best par t of the episode is the Humor, those hipppies (only chong to be precise) are hillairios!

This episode had it all: romance (hence the title), comedy and of course the action and adventure we all love.

The "Aang Gang" finds itself trapped with a group of nomads inside The Cave of Two Lovers. Trying to escape, we learn a lot about the characters. For example, Appa suffers of claustrophobia. The nomads keep annoying Sokka, with their "normal" attitude.

And of course the best scene in the episode (even though we don't see it, we still know it happened). Aang and Katara kiss!

And then comes the action: two badger-moles attack our heroes. And what exactly saves them? The nomads' music.

Overall a great episode. Even if you're not a Kataang fan you can still enjoy this well-written episode.

First!!! First episode about love :) About true love... In this episode we can know about that, how to come into being the town of Omashu. This town was build for remember our love . But this story is not the leading thing. Like all the time our beloved characters travel around the world. And like all the time they want to escape from firebenders. In that dangerouns travel Aang gang meet travelling singers. Their songs are realy cute. For exemple:" Even if you're lost you can't lose the love because it's in your heart. Ooooohhhh..." Sokka's hate their songs. Then they came to the tunel, it trapped. For now Aang and Katara and Appa have to find the end of the tunnel alone. Sokka go with singers. He is very obsessive for that. I thing this episode culmination is Aang and Kataras kiss. They are to force the issue that they have to do. Or be in the dark tunnel or escape from this. That they choose all now very good. Oh... Sokka and singers escape from tunnel on the giant moles. Funny is that what singer, named Chong thinked that Sokka is Avatar. For the end: "Even if you're lost you can't lose the love because it's in your heart, ooooohhhhh" :D

I love this episode!!! She totally blushes! I just love this episode because I am a kataang fan this just brings up my spirits. They are totally going to end up together. The hippie's songs are OK but the best song they sang is at the end of the show. I think the best 2 parts are "The I-think-it-was-a-kiss part" and at the end of the show when Aang looks at Katara and Katara looks down and blushes. I love this episode!!!!1
  • Aang and his friends must navigate a cave to get to Omashu, while Zuko meets a new lady friend.

Kay, so this is one of my favorite episodes ever. It starts off with Sokka looking cute (surprising, no?). And then the hippies come. Good Lord, the hippies. They have got to be the best one-time characters ever. Hoping that Jeong-Jeong comes back, that is. Anyways, the whole "Secret Tunnel" song was amazing. I have yet to find a downloadable version.

And then we get a classic Iroh moment. This man never ceases to amaze me. He's so cute all like, "Oh, tea! Oh, crap, no it's poison. And, ew, Zuko's hair looks like teh gross. When they go and see their new friend Song I'm just like, "Ooh, looks like Zuko could, er, get-it-on or something." And then with the whole Katara "Maybe we shoudl kiss" thing, I was rolling around on the floor, foaming at the mouth, "NO! Zutara shall prevail! Nooooo!" But that of course was my immature last-year self. I've known now that you need not PROOF or anything of the likes to start a ship *coughcoughhomosexualships*. So to sum it up, this episode has it all: action, lots of romance, tons of belly laughs, and the kind of touch that only Avatar can offer. If ya know what I mean.
  • Hippies!

This ep explores the idea of a relationship between Aang and Katara, which seems a little out of character for both of them, but it was well written. This ep was very comical becuse there are hippies in the avatar world who we meet in this ep, and who have great songs that you won't stop singing. We also learn more about earth bending in this ep, how it got started and why. Also Zuko and Iroh start to travel on their own and meet an new character who has something in common with Zuko, the main question that is being asked is will Zuko change to good? only time will tell.
  • a great kataang moment

i think this episode was great for kataang fans. In the dark you can't tell wheter of not katara and aang really kissed or if all the lights wents out and the crystals just activcated, i thought it would be interesteing to see katara and aang actually kisseach other. i am a zutara fan but i think that kataang is more likely to happen in the show so they are building up to it. the people that sang were so funny, especially in the end when they got on sokka's nerves. teh giant bears and the story behind omashu were nice too. I think that this episode will be remembered by kataang fans for a long time as shippers battle it out even after the series ends
  • The gang have to go through this "love" cave.

This is the cutest episode!!! Just so you know, I am a huge Kataang supporter. This episode is confusing at the end though. You're not quite sure if it was the fire going out that made the cave light up, or if it was them kissing that made it light up. I mean, they could have never kissed. It could have seemed like they did, but they could have really just leaned in then stop when they saw the cave light up, but I believe that they really kissed. Right fellow Kataang supporters? The last episode is a real cliff hanger though. Will Aang remember Katara, or will he forget that he ever loved her? Da da daaaaaaaaa!
  • The group meet some nomads who offer to help them get to Omashu. They show them of a secret tunnel called "The Cave of two lover" hence giving the episode title. However, in the tunnel the group gets split and each have to find their own way out.

Average. Thats basically the word for it. There was nothing special, except the ending but I've seen better episodes in this show and even other shows. However, there are some good points to it: It follows on the relationship of Aang and Katara from the previous episode and shows that they are affection for each other. I loved the nomads, they were funny and drove Sokka mad but he always does. I liked the conflict with Zuko and Iroh and how they needed to decide whether it was a good plant. Two very important things happen in the end. Firstly, Zuko steals the ostrich horse of the family who they were staying with. He also sees the damage that the girl who they were staying with and he realizes something about the war. It shows that he knows the cost of the war but he still wants to restore his honor. The most obvious thing that happend is when the gang realize that Omashu has been destroyed and that they need to find Boomy before it is too late. It gives a big cliff hanger for the next episode.
