  • The Swamp

    10
    "Perfect"
The Swamp was a perfect, entertaining and haunting episode of Avatar The Last Airbender. I enjoyed watching this episode because Aang is being called to a Swamp and a tornado splits the gang from Appa and Momo. I thought each had their own interesting adventure through the swamp. The little birds have a crazy scream, theres some sort of aligators, and a Swamp Thing! It was cool to meet new characters who were living in the swamp that turned out to be Waterbenders. I also enjoyed seeing Zuko and Iroh living as beggars. I look forward to watching the next episode!!!!!!!
  • One of the better Avatar episodes.

This episode is pack full of action and eastern ideas. This episode is a learning episode for Aang. Here he learns how everything in the world is connected (He also hears this from the Guru later on in the season). I really like this episode because it has many eastern ideas about how all things are connected and how the flow of energy is realted to the body. I think this episode is just shows the differnt people in the world and I feel like this is just a good episode. If I were you I would definatly try to watch this episode its and Avatar clasic.
  • why do they ut fillers in a show thats only 65 eps long?

    4.5
    "Poor"
wish they had done more with it. that ep and avatar day were useless fillers. Katara and aang could of at least stayed to learn how to bend water in the vines. Honestly it seems like aang is barely using waterbending at all this season. and we hardly see any training done since Aang is always fooling around. Aang- hey now that i've learned the basics lets go on mini vacations. WHATEVER if only they'd kill or lock up their opponents once in a while. Zuko Iroh and jun should of already been captured in the ep where they meet bato. Tylee should of died from sufficating when she was trapped in the drills sewage dispenser pipe. Zuko and Iroh should a stole Azula's ride lol.
  • Meh.

    "Good"
This episode felt more like a filler than anything. The message at the end wasn't really spectacular or interesting either; in fact it felt incomplete. There wasn't a really great emphasis on the whole "the swamp is one living organism" and so the episode feels like it is severely lacking. The action was pretty average; the fight with the "swamp monster" was all right, but again nothing spectacular. The only shining point of this episode is that although there were far funnier episodes in the past, the humour was still enlightening. Overall though the episode feels incomplete and lacking with some pretty average action scenes.
  • Aang and the gang find themselves trapped in a swamp while searching for Momo and Appa.

I can remember seeing previews for this episode. I hadn't started to watch Avatar yet, but I thought the preview looked cool XD Anywho, Aang, Katara, and Sokka find themselves trapped in a Swamp in the middle of nowhere. Appa and Momo are lost, and they are searching for them. In the middle of the search, they lose each other. And then they start hallucinating. Aang keeps seeing a girl with a flying boar in the trees, Katara keeps seeing her mother, and Sokka sees the Princess. When Aang chases the girl, he accidentally attacks Katara and knocks her to the ground. That part was funny! Another funny part was when the water benders told Katara they were sort of related since they were all waterbenders XD Katara looked like she would have rather been related to flies XD
  • The first turning point in the Avatar's journey.

In this episode Aang, Katara and Sokka are forced into a strange swamp by a tonado. They lose their bison, Appa so they can't get out of the swamp. Then they all lose eacher! They are seperated by a long moving vine in the Swamp. While they are seperated, they all see visions in tbe Swamp. Sokka sees Princess Yue. Katara sees he Mother, and Aang sees some strange person that he has never met. The episode was not what you would call "Superb" but it is a "Great" and "Exciting" episode. Concluding with the Long Awaited return of The Blue Spirit.

the swamp that the gaang were stuck in is very mysterious and very magical. katara sees an illusion of her mother and sokka sees an illusion of princess yue of the north pole. also, aang sees a young girl giggling and a flying pig. he has never seen her or the pig i mean boar. a weird dude tells them that time is an illusion and blah blah blah and aang is gonna meet that girl sometime in the future and her name is toph shes a strong and tough earthbender so yeah. you dont learn that in this episode though.

Katara sees her mom in her vision. she sees her mom but it is actually a tree. she begins to cry later. i feel so bad. sokka sees yue and she says sokka did not protect her and she is sad and sokka gets confused. aang sees a girl in a fancy pretty dress running
  • The gang had dropped into a mystical swamp, danger awaits them...

    9.5
    "Superb"
After what happened, the gang was sperated, leaving Aang, Sokka and Katara together and Momo and Appa on another side of thw swamp. Soon enough, the gang was attacked by a giant plant and Appa and Momo was chased by some local swamp guys.

Aang, Sokka got seperated after escaping from the mystical plant, and each of them began to have different strange visions: Katara saw her mom, Sokka saw Yue and Aang saw a girl he never knew of.

Their visions led them to the same place, the center of the swamp, there they once more encountered the giant plant, after much hard fight eventuall they manage to took it down, and found the plant was actually bended by a person. The person took them to the center and told them time is an illusion, they will have visions of people they missed and they will meet.

The gang had learnt an important lesson in the swamp, "death is an illusion, they lost can be tranformed into other forms and be with someone still alive all the time.

  • This was a filler in my opinion, but it was a great filler.

Wow, this was a very good filler episode, I think it was the third best filler episode. Behind The Chase, and The Headband. I loved how all the Gaang members seperated and had their own little part. Just like in Tales of Ba Sing Se. The fight between Aang, Sokka, and Katara beating Due. On Zuko and Iroh's part of the story, they were hobos! Iroh wanted to sing and dance for money. I loved how that they made it look so real. And now, Aang will meet who he saw in the vision in the future. Overall, great episode, I give it a solid 9.1.
  • The Gaang get sucked down into a mysterious swamp with mysterious connections.

I hesitated in classifying this as a filler episode, but it had to be done. Yes, it was very interesting, but the only relevant point of this episode is when Aang sees the vision of Toph. However, this could have happened almost anytime in the series without making a whole episode out of it. Sure, with out this, we wouldn't have "Swamp Skiing Throwdown" but that's hardly enough to give this episode merit as something important. Personally, I did not like this episode very much. Quite frankly, I think the series and show could have gone on just fine without it.

mysterious tornado pulls Aang, Katara and katara into a supernatural swamp where Katara, Sokka and Aang have mysterious visions. Meanwhile, Momo and Appa are chased by swamp waterbenders (hill billys who are hillariors!) and only Aang Katara and Sokka can save them. My favorite part of the episode is when Aang Katara and Sokka see things. Another part of this episode that I liked is when Aang Katara and Sokka discoverd who was the big swamp monster making all of the routs of the plants move. Lastly, my last part of this episode that I liked is when Aang Katara and Sokka find Momo and Appa. I hope you also liked this episode
  • A deeper look at our characters.

    9.6
    "Superb"
This ep gives us a deeper look at Sokka, Katara and Aang. We learn more about their fears, hopes and dreams, through a "magical" swamp that they find themselves in. Aang also learns another important lesson about the earth that he has to protect. This ep is also comical at parts, but kind of sad at other, and it doesn't lack action or a good fight, it also has a mystical part to it that makes it different for the other eps and a great ep to watch. This ep also foreshowds events in eps to come. :-) What will happen next.

After being dragged by a mysterious tornado, the gang find themselves in a mysterious swamp, Sokka who never thinks before he swings starts hacking his way through the swamp, while Aang keeps telling him he shouldn't do that.

The gang begins looking for Appa and Momo, who got separated from them during the storm, as they get deeper into the swamp, each one of them begins to see images of people, Sokka sees, Yue, Katara sees her mom, and Aang sees a girl who he has never meant in a fancy dress.

This was one crazy episode, I like the beginning when Iroh was dancing for money, and Sokka had classic lines as always, my favorite "Why do things keep attaching to me".

I also enjoyed the swamp water benders that added a bit of comedic relief to the episode, instead of just Sokka.

With Aang’s vision it seemed to foreshadow a future episode, and possibly a earth bending teacher for Aang.
  • The only thing useful in the whole pe was finding out what Toph looked like otherwise it was a waste of an ep.

Ok the Gaang are stuck in a swamp. They see mysterious visions. Aang see's Toph. Katara sees her mom, and Sokka sees Yue. This man that lives in the swamp tells him that the swamp shows visions of people that they miss dearly. But since Aang is the Avatar it might have the reverse effect on him. Meanwhile Appa and Momo are being chased by swamp benders for food, but they escape. My favorite part of this epsiode is when Katara and Aang fight the swamp monster. This is because Katara showed off her great master waterbending skills and Aang used his airbending. It was a great episode.

  • The Swamp in all its swampy goodness!

    "Perfect"
If you are not from the South you cannot fully appreciate the familiar humor in watching the two dim-witted swampbenders relentlessly try to capture and eat Momo and Appa. Where I come from people really do hunt and eat squirrel and 'possum and proclaim it tastes just like chicken! So sad, but so true. This episode to me was fascinating because of the visions the swamp had to offer Aang, Sokka and Katara. First Aang is given a vision of his future earthbending teacher whom he of course does not immediately recognize but later is able to correctly make the connection with her from the clues of the swamp vision. Sokka receives a vision of his beloved Princess Yue. Katara sees her own mother forever lost in death because of the Fire Nation. This is particularly poignant because we have never seen the true depth of the burden of grief Katara carries in being apart from her mother. Additionally we see the guilt Sokka carries in failing to protect (in his mind) Princess Yue as well. All these aspects hiding in the deep recesses of the psyches of our main characters is very interesting and insightful. I especially liked the wisdom of the head swampbender stating to Aang that all living things are connected and really are one. An absolutely wonderous episode!
  • it was a revealing episode obout what was special in the live of katara, aang and sokka.

they got stuck in a swamp and lost appa and momo.

eventually they lost each other too, and they got strange viuallitys... or something like that...

katara thought she saw her mother, who died.

sokka thought his father was there but he is far away in the war...

aang aang saw a laughing girl he never saw before...

in the next episode you see that it was toph he saw, but he never saw here before...

thats a other reason why aang wanted her to be his earthbending teacher...
  • awsome episode so adventurouse

The episode opens up with Zuko and Iroh in a village street begging for money. Zuko refuses to gravel, trying to keep grasp of what dignity he has left while Iroh has more willing accepted their new lot in life. A swordsman approaches Iroh and has him sing for a coin. As Iroh sings the swordsman swings his blades at Iroh’s feet to have him “dance.” As the swordsman leaves, Zuko is angered and humiliated by his uncle’s degrade. Meanwhile Aang, Katara, and Sokka are seeking an Earthbending teacher for Aang they fly over a swamp. Aang thinks the swamp is calling to him but due to the reluctance of his friends agrees to leave. Suddenly a tornado appears, swallowing everyone. Aang uses Airbending to free them. Unfortunately he separates humans and animals into two separate groups. The human group begins looking for Momo and Appa. Aang and Katara are weary of the environment, sensing something ominous about it. Sokka uses his machete to hack through the swamp, clearing a path. He gets annoyed at his sister and friend’s warnings. Sokka states there is nothing out of the ordinary about the place.
  • I was hoping there would be a spirit world moment in this episode because it just seemed so natural that there should be one. Of course, that was the only disappointed in this entire episode, everything else was AWESOME!

The first time Appa gets involuntarily separated from Aang. This episode was truly enlighting. Hopefully we will get an answer to exactly how or who created the tornado that brought the gang down into the swamp. Learning that there was more to waterbenders then simply what we have seen in the northern and southern tribes was something to further Katara\'s abilities with some foundation. I loved the symbolism of the tree in the swamp being the center of life and examining how we are all connected no matter what nation you hail from. Seeing what you want and what will be was also drawn with a fine line but proves to further the story along later in the season.

this episode was the best, the swamp people were the best they reminded me of beach bums or hippies they were so great, i liked how the writers also followed appa and momo while they were seperated from the gang. this was a great development because it showed that there are different types of benders within the elements, ie. earth benders in this episode can control swamp vines, plus the swamp people controling the swamp water wow now that is a stinky power, lol. i also thought that it was great giving a prediction of a future team mate. it also showed a hole bunch more creatures that live within the avatar world.

Aang and friends are taken down by a tornado into a misty swamp. In there they are seperated and all of them see visions. Katara sees one of her mother. Sokka sees one of Princess Yue. But Aang sees one of someone he doesn't know. A girl. And as we find out in "blind bandit" is Toph. This episode goes more into what the characters are about and what they miss. This episode also helps Aang to figure out who his future earth bending teacher can be. This episode overall was adventourous and taught you much about nature and human nature itself.

This episode was soooo awesome. The only stupid part was how the kids survived a hundred foot drop from Appa. Yeah, last time I checked, that isn't possible. I loved the part where Aang did the weird connection thing to see where Appa and Momo were. I don't understand it, but it was cool. The only thing I'd like to know is if Aang can do this anytime. It seems like he'd be able to. If this is true, how come he doesn't know where Appa is?? Other than the connection part and the falling part, I liked this episode.

The Swamp" is an episode from the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender, which airs on Nickelodeon. It is the fourth episode of the second season of the series.

When the kids end up in a mysterious and strange swamp, their fears are exposed. And Aang learns more about being the Avatar. * This is the first episode in which we see Katara and Sokka's mother, though we only see her from behind. She is, however, only an illusion. * The girl in Aang's vision is Toph, as revealed in The Blind Bandit. * This is the first episode where we see Waterbenders that were born outside the North and South Poles. Unlike other Waterbenders, they wear green instead of blue, making them almost look like Earthbenders. However, given that the water in the swamp is green, they are actually wearing the color of their element as they see it. * Waterbenders can control plants that contain water just as Firebenders can direct electricity, which is considered to house the same elemental force as flames possess. "Plantbending" may not have been considered before by the North and South Poles. Also, Bending the water in plants may only be possible when the plants are highly saturated with water, as with the swamp's vines. * The water bender claimed to have reached enlightenment while sitting under the swamp tree, a reference to Siddhartha Gautama who attained enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree and became the Buddha. * All the trees in the swamp are actually a clonal colony, a single organism. This is similar to Pando an Aspen colony in Utah that might be the oldest and heaviest organism alive on Earth. * A man with a cart walks by Zuko and Iroh as they beg for money. On the cart, there is an oni mask just like Zuko's Blue Spirit mask. The viewer can also tell the mask is there by the familiar tune of chimes. After the man passes, Zuko continues watching it, until Iroh asks a man for spare change. * While being chased by the Waterbenders, Momo threw the crown he gave to Katara in the episode "The Blue Spirit." * Zuko becomes the Blue Spirit once again in this episode. * The existence of a previously unknown settlement of Waterbenders could suggest that other Benders such as Airbenders remain hidden in the world.

this was a ok episode, zuko and irohmade a breif appearance and zuko got his swords back. the whole swamp thing went on alitte to long, though i thought sokka was really funny in this one. that screaming bird was extreamly cool, if we had them here they would scare me so bad. katara's bending was way cool, she really has gotten alot better. also aang see's some one he will meet, and we learn that every thing is conected.

This episode is going down as one of my favorites. I was totally in love with the Sokka/Yue moments in Seige of the North, and Sokka's vision of Yue in the swamp was a real tear-jerker for me. This episode almost made me cry, but still managed to lighten the mood every so often with classic Sokka moments, not to mention the hillbilly swamp-dwellers. I rewatch this episode every chance I get. It reminds me of how much has changed and how much can still happen in the world of Avatar. It reminded me that even though Katara is a peppy optimist, she still has seen her share of darkness and problems in the world. It also reminded me that Sokka has a deeper side to him than just the comic relief.

I loved this episode and it's definately one of my favorites.
