EDIT

Amon announces to the city that if the Republic City council does not cancel the Pro-bending finals the entire city will suffer. The council initially gives into Amon's demands, but after Lin convinces them that the police will protect the arena, they let the finals proceed. Korra, Mako, and Bolin are determined to beat Tahno and his team. However, they have payed off the referee and soon begin to cheat during the match. As the match ends with an unfair victory for Tahno, Amon makes his move and takes over the arena.

Oh man, all the treachery and politics coming out in this episode. It's a great blend of the fun of probending and the seriousness of the greater movement. I loved Amon's line of "cleanse them of their impurity." It furthers my previous notion of the Equalizers being a religious metaphor. This whole bit also ties nicely into the current (unfavorable) notion that the current religion of the world is science/technology. We're so obsessed with it and the commentary here is spectacular.

Beyond that, I loved the venture into backstory land with Tenzen and Bei Fong's past relationship. Also helped with characterization and uniting the fronts. And, and, and - who didn't love the cabbage seller from the original series? I was thrilled with the radio message regarding Cabbage Corp at the beginning of the episode - and how it connected with the world's technology. Brilliant!moreless

And The Winner Is... was a perfect episode and I really enjoyed watching! There was a lot of action, character and plot development. It was cool to see the Fire Ferrets vs. The Wolf Bats and it was crazy how they payed off the ref in order to cheat to win. I liked seeing more Lin in this episode and learning of her history with Tenzin. Amon has really created quite the following and now they have powerful hand devices that remind me of the Goa'uld hand devices in some ways. Now that the balance of power is shifting there will be many more battles to fight. I look forward to watching what happens next!!!!!!!!!moreless
