This episode is weak and doesn't stand by itself, spending a lot of time in discussions where characters explain to others what happened/what they will do. Maybe Bolin's success is a metaphor of this Show. He's just showing how cool he is and wait for people to love him. He's attached to success without understanding what's behind. Mako's coworkers are so dumb without an inch of humor, probably the only way to make Mako feel smart.
Not much of a cliffhanger, but I'll take the slowed-down pace as a trade-off. This week's episode continued the jittery pace that's claimed the season so far, but definitely slowed down to look at relationships and options. Finally, there was more investment in Korra's side of things than in Tenzin's (I'm actually not sure what Tenzin's accomplished plot-wise, or character-wise), but it was all on the negative side. Mako seems to be on the right track but because Korra's backtracked so much on her character development, she couldn't see it. Still not nearly on par with where a series of this pedigree should be, but a decently enjoyable half hour.
