Dull Stand-alone Episode

This was the first episode in the season I didn't like. The case of the week was boring with the search for the missing wife, and there wasn't really an element of mystery in this one. I also missed seeing the psychologists and the son. Hopefully, there aren't too many of these stand-alone episodes.

I know, a change from the normal bouncing back and forth between Michael's wife and son. Some people probably didn't like that. Personally, I thought it gave a little new blood to the show. I thought it was funny at the beginning when the cops were called in to investigate a "break-in", only to find Michael trying to get to his pants. We see an underlining message about friendships and relationships. Michael has a longtime friendship/business relationship with a confidential informant, but tries to "pawn" him off to his young partner as Michael faces moving to Oregon. His informant kept saying, "Who moves to Oregon."

In what would be the reality with Rex, Michael is trying to protect a potential informant rolling over on his boss. That person doesn't want to cooperate unless his wife is brought into protective custody as well. She gets extremely upset about her husband's lies to her and how he has caused them to lose everything. All the while, having secrets of her own. When she takes off, her husband is forced to think about where she would go if they were the young married couple at the beginning of their relationship. This was in light to Michael finding out that the wife was paying for a companion. A companion just to spend time with, all the while talking about her husband and how far apart they have grown. When Michael finds her, he tells her that one large suitcase isn't much to start a life over, but if you love that person you don't need anything. He also told her to enjoy the second chance she was given, because a lot of people don't get that. Thanks to this, that's what led to the beginning of the episode with Michael trying to find his pants. All because, he took his wife back to where they first met. Then did a "replay" of what led them to talk, then the events that happened next, and next, etc. All with them, what I assume is doing the high dive with no clothes on, or maybe they did it because they had no swim suits, as the clincher to him ending up with her.

I enjoyed the show a lot, also remembered not to take my wife for granted.moreless

No Rex, No Shrinks, No Awesomeness!

This is probably my least favourite episode so far (which is why I am giving it the lowest rank I have yet). While I still thought it was good (I think this show can't have a bad one) I really felt something lacking. Or rather somethings, those being no Rex or shrinks. That whole double universe and the shrinks unknowingly pinned against each other is what separates this from other cop shows. This episode, for me was a good cop show, but that is about it. The CI case was completely useless and could have been better spent on scenes with Rex. The other case was actually very good and is what saved this episode. It was intriguing and action packed, and the wife was a great actor. It's always nice when a show can make you feel for a character who not only have you never met, but you know you will never see again. This show has been doing this since episode one and continues to do so. I also liked how Michael is trying to change and support Hannah in the move, which keeps me guessing as to how he will get out of it, or if he will. Can the show continue if he lives in two places at the same time? I am hoping next week's episode goes back to the old format with more family situations.moreless
