  • PLEASE DON'T NBC THIS

    Awake: Outside Interference

Episode 2 appeared to have taken some notes from the network, and that frightens us, but the core of the series remained intact for a successful follow-up to the pilot.

  • Episode Summary

    EDIT

While trying to cope with the grief of his son and wife in the two alternate realities, Michael gets a clue to the murder of a homeless man in one reality and tries to use it to find the suspect in the other reality. Meanwhile, Michael's captain begins to question his sanity as the events of the car accident come into question.

    • Not Quite as Good as the Pilot, But a Great Ending!

      9.0
This episode wasn't as good as the pilot, but it was good. The case in the green reality was really great. I didn't like the red reality case very much, but that ending was great (which I will talk about later). I'm starting to like Hannah more now, and I loved the scene where she discovered the motorcycle. I liked the amount of talking with the counselors there was, and I liked the "this is a problem"/"this is fascinating", and I loved the discussion about the unsolved case with Dr. Evans. I really like Dr. Evans while I find Dr. Lee too annoying.

The ending, now, was really great. I absolutely loved it! It is confusing though, because it seems that they said they killed both his wife and son. I wonder if this same thing will also happen in the green reality? I wonder if she lied and told the man that both the wife and son died? Who knows? I hope that more will be revealed soon.moreless
    • Tack That On

      8.0
This was an enjoyable episode but didn't feel nearly as involved with the overall plot. I'm not sure what to make of the unsolved case; obviously if Michael was successful in everything and became a super-cop, there would be no real way to grow or progress the plot, but perhaps the unsolved cases are as important as the solved ones. With a show so heavily driven by potential subconscious, it would make sense that there are some things he can't work through yet that may be relevant later. We'll see.

I really missed the interactions with the shrinks, but I know that they're only useful scenes to a point and think that if there had been any more interaction shown, it would have been overboard and forcing it.

Talking about forcing it, that ending. Sheesh! That was too much, too soon. Really shouldn't have been included in this episode. I'm not sure what it will mean for the immediate future of the show, but if it's going to start stumbling over its own feet after two episodes, I'm a feeling a little iffy about its chance at survival.moreless
    • WOW! What an Episode!

      I didn't see that coming...Well I did *SPOILER ALERT*

I had actually predicted that both the son and mother were dead, but I didn't know that this was going to be revealed so early on in the series. It is interesting because I had just finished thinking that the majority of the episode was based on the case(s) and not so much the life of Michael and then that scene happened.

I thought the acting by the kid who played Sam was great. What a strange case that was. That Dr. was crazy to have done that to 15+ kids. I like how they are pushing Michael's partners to try and figure him out. It will be interesting to see how long he can keep it up.

I really like how they mix a cop show and a family drama show in one, and even though this was more focused on the case than the previous, and I have a feeling this will be the norm, I still think this was another incredible episode. Jason Isaacs is doing a great job. I know its early, but I say Emmy!moreless
