  • Cloud now know where Zathras came from

Be warned that the review from marvelfan contains a huge spoiler. Grr. I suspected the event mentioned but really didn't want it confirmed like that. Best to avoid other people's reviews I guess, which is a shame.

I was talking to someone with the username Zathras on another site who referred to himself in the third person all the time. So that's what it's from! Hopefully I will meet my pre-destined B5 buddy again. It was kind of surreal just watching this episode minding my own business when a name I recognised popped up.

This is one of those episodes that creates more questions than it answers, but this isn't a bad thing. More questions and suspense are exactly what I needed to keep me gripped to the series and not losing interest, and well, here it is, in spades. What is this prophecy? Was the fighting we saw a flashback to the Earth/Minbari war or a flashforward to something else? What's going to happen with Sinclair? (I guessed it was him far too easily - more than a little bit telegraphed and clich there to be honest). What of Delenn? I'm glad she's staying and wonder why they chose now to recall her.

I liked Delenn's sentiments that humanity is better than it thinks. With all the {expletive} that happens in the world of our own making, there is a lot of misanthropy out there. I cannot blame misanthropists for feeling the way they do, but I like this optimistic comment and see it as a nice sort of response.

And it still managed to squeeze some humour in. Cheer up Commander, could be worse, you could be stuck on a shuttlecraft with Neelix for a week :)

I share Ivanova's difficulty with mornings. Gosh lads, such trolls! Good to see the lighter side of Sinclair in particular though.

Well, once again I'm left excited. Episode's done its job.moreless
  • Babylon Squared

Babylon Squared was a really superb episode of Babylon 5. I really enjoyed watching this episode because it was full of character development, action and drama. There were a lot of creative scenes in this episode. I thought the story of this episode was interesting and it was intriguing to learn a tiny bit more about the larger picture of what is going on. This episode reveals certain information while bringing up new questions. I was intrigued by the ending of this episode and look forward to watching more of Babylon 5! This episode showcases how great this series can be!!!!!!!moreless
  • Mystery solved and more mysteries risen.

This episode... wow I most say - that was my first reaction when I first saw it. I just well in love with it - the huge action, the very dangerous situation, mystically re-appeared station and some weird creature that I started to like. Ofcourse, watching this episode is never again the same if you have seen season 3 and some certain episodes what really explain what really was going on there. But that is not the matter.

I really love the story. I think there is a need for create mind to write something like that. For not a moment the motion halts - it is always moving so fast, always something happening.

    And the ending - I most say - a really promising.moreless
  • One of the best of the whole season

We find out what happened / happens to Babylon4 in this episode which managed to be an exciting episode, whilst also introducing some long term plot elements.

Babylon5 gets a transmission from Babylon 4 and Garibaldi and Sinclair head out to investigate. It seems that Babylon 4 has been caught in some sort of time warp and keeps appearing and disappearing, prompting a race against time to evacuate.

More significantly we get to meet Zafras, a character who will return much later as we see this same story playing out again but from the other perspective. I must admit that when I first watched this episode I really didn't 'get' what was happening - but looking back now it really shows off how the writers were setting things in place for the 5 year story arc, as we see Sinclair from the Babylon5 meeting Sinclair / Valen from the future. Awesome.

A secondary story, albeit very significant, concerns Delenn making a decisive break with the wishes of the Grey Council. They want her as leader, but she wants to stay on Babylon 5 and help fulfill the prophecy that has been hinted at throughout season one. This all comes together in the season finale.

    A truly great episode.moreless

  • QUOTES (3)

    • (Travelling to Babylon 4)
Garibaldi: You want to talk socks?
      Sinclair: No!
      Garibaldi: Just a question.
Sinclair: I'm not having this conversation!

    • Zathras: Zathras not of this time. You take, Zathras dies. You leave, Zathras dies. Either way, it is bad for Zathras.

    • (after Garibaldi and Sinclair trick Ivanova into thinking she slept through breakfast)
Sinclair: I'll notify your next of kin.
      Garibaldi: 4... 3... 2... 1...
Ivanova: Oh! Garibaldi! You're a dead man!

  • NOTES (1)

    • According to folklore, the Flying Dutchman is a ghost ship that can never go home, but must sail 'the seven seas' forever. The Flying Dutchman is usually spotted from afar, sometimes glowing with ghostly light. If she is hailed by another ship, her crew will often try to send messages to land, to people long since dead.
