Babylon Squared was a really superb episode of Babylon 5. I really enjoyed watching this episode because it was full of character development, action and drama. There were a lot of creative scenes in this episode. I thought the story of this episode was interesting and it was intriguing to learn a tiny bit more about the larger picture of what is going on. This episode reveals certain information while bringing up new questions. I was intrigued by the ending of this episode and look forward to watching more of Babylon 5! This episode showcases how great this series can be!!!!!!!
This episode... wow I most say - that was my first reaction when I first saw it. I just well in love with it - the huge action, the very dangerous situation, mystically re-appeared station and some weird creature that I started to like. Ofcourse, watching this episode is never again the same if you have seen season 3 and some certain episodes what really explain what really was going on there. But that is not the matter.
I really love the story. I think there is a need for create mind to write something like that. For not a moment the motion halts - it is always moving so fast, always something happening.
We find out what happened / happens to Babylon4 in this episode which managed to be an exciting episode, whilst also introducing some long term plot elements.
Babylon5 gets a transmission from Babylon 4 and Garibaldi and Sinclair head out to investigate. It seems that Babylon 4 has been caught in some sort of time warp and keeps appearing and disappearing, prompting a race against time to evacuate.
More significantly we get to meet Zafras, a character who will return much later as we see this same story playing out again but from the other perspective. I must admit that when I first watched this episode I really didn't 'get' what was happening - but looking back now it really shows off how the writers were setting things in place for the 5 year story arc, as we see Sinclair from the Babylon5 meeting Sinclair / Valen from the future. Awesome.
A secondary story, albeit very significant, concerns Delenn making a decisive break with the wishes of the Grey Council. They want her as leader, but she wants to stay on Babylon 5 and help fulfill the prophecy that has been hinted at throughout season one. This all comes together in the season finale.
i loved this episode babylon squared. i think i like it because we get to see what happen to babylon 4. there is also a amusing scene where garibaldi and sinclare are having breakfast, watch for what they do to susan. an investigation into a powerfull energy source climaxes in an astonishing discovery about babylon 5 predecessor babylon 4 as the truth unravels the impossible happens a distress signal is retrived from babylon 4 even though it mysteriously disappered years before. as commander sincair and his crew race to the signal source they are overtaken by incredible horrifying visions of the future and glimpses of a strange and forbidding figure known only as the one.
A routine starfighter for Babylon 5 thinks he’s spotted Babylon 4 and then vanishes with a ray of light. When the man’s dead body is examined he appears to have aged incredibly and died from natural causes. Then the station receives a signal from Babylon 4 apparently four years in the making. Commander Sinclair thinks tacoian emissions have led to Babylon 4 disappearance. To he and Garabaldi’s surprise, they do come aboard the ship but can’t believe what they see nor the explanation by the ship’s captain.
It seems Babylon 4 has been stuck in time. On top of that Babylon four has a mysterious alien as a prisoner named Zathras. Zathras apparently knows Commander Sinclair from the future but Sinclair doesn't know him.
It was a pretty interesting episode, mostly about time and travel and deja vu. This episode would later be brought in Season 3's "War Without End" in which Sinclair (as Ambassador) would return to Babylon 5.
I think that was part of the episode, an omnious send of in the making to Sinclair (he'd be replaced later).
Still a pretty decent episode at least consistency wise the writers would address this episode later and Sinclair would get his destiny in the future.
