The only obstacle remaining between Sheridan and Earth is a fleet near Mars. With the help of the resistance, Sheridan plans to smuggle Shadow modified telepaths onto the fleet, hopefully disabling it long enough from him to take Earth. Meanwhile, Marcus is determined to find a way to help Ivanova.moreless

Endgame was a perfect, engaging and very entertaining episode of Babylon 5. I really enjoyed watching this episode because Sheridan's plan moves along smoothly, Marcus plans to save Ivanova, and the space battle scenes were awesome. I also really liked how Sheridan went for the disable over destroy, and had the League Ships hold back as defense, only to engage in self defense. Lyta was awesome, and Sheridan's plan was brilliant! I thought President Clark's actions were a bit crazy and extreme, but I guess he would be. Sheridan succeeds in his mission, but another test will come along as he will most likely have to stand before a tribunal. I thought what Marcus did for Ivanova was Deep and full of Love. I look forward to the next episode of Babylon 5!!!!!!!moreless

Poor Marcus, impetuous Marcus, gallant Marcus. But what a clever boy. I had totally forgotten about that alien device thing. Talk about jumping in the way back machine and digging out old plotlines. And JMS for faking left and going right. Although the spoiler I got from the commentary track makes me think that this is going to turn out not exactly as it's intimating. Another big space battle. Not what I thought they were going to do with the telepaths, but effective nonetheless. Intersting plan President Clark had before he ventilated his brain, glad the other ships twigged on to what he was doing and came to their senses. Now all we have to worry about is Psi Corps and the remnants of the old government, those loyal to Clark.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    ADD TRIVIA
    • Revealing Mistakes: When Sheridan's fleet approaches Earth it is daytime over the Indian Ocean. When the Agamemnon is about to ram the defense platform, however, it is daytime over North America.

    • Continuity: One of the EA destoyers that is attacked at Mars is the Nemesis. The Nemesis, however, joins Sheridan's side in "No Surrender, No Retreat." A possible explanation of this is that the Nemesis and her crew were one of a group of fake defectors from "Between the Darkness and the Light" that were trying to gather intelligence on Sheridan's forces.

    • Marcus: I love you.

    • Senator Crosby: Captain Sheridan, this is an emergency transmission. President Clark is dead. He took his own life before we could arrest him, but he left a message on his desk. Two words, "scorched earth??"

    • General Lefcourt: Engineering, this is General Lefcourt. In case you didn't notice, the enemy just pulled our shorts up over our head and tied them into a knot. You will get the ship under control ASAP, or I will come down there and skin the hide off every last one of you.

    • Earth Force NCO: What can one telepath do against an entire destroyer? Franklin: Well, these aren't normal telepaths

    • General Lefcourt: But he wouldn't want to go offensive unless ... he has an ace in the hole. But what is it?

    • Franklin: I assume that you worked out that whole longitude-latitude thing. I know you get confused sometimes. Garibaldi: You're right, you're right. I keep mixing them up. ... I got it right. Well, I think I got it right. Okay, fine. Which goes vertically, longitude or latitude?

    • General Lefcourt: No, they picked me because I'm from the old school: a soldier doesn't take arms against his own government, no matter how justified you feel doing it. And because Sheridan was one of my students back in the Academy. I taught him everything he knows. I know how he thinks, I know how he fights. To tell you the truth, I've always admired him. And now I'm gonna have to kill him, and his ship and everyone around him. It's a terrible day, Charlie. I wish the hell I'd never live to see it.

    • Franklin: November 1st, 2261. Doctor's personal log. We're ready.

    • Garibaldi: This is Grumpy to Snow White. I've got the coordinates for the wicked Queens castle. We are in position. You can break the mirror any time you want. Stand by to receive.

    • Sheridan: This is Captain John Sheridan. We are here on the authority of a multi-planetary force that can no longer stand by and watch one of their greatest allies falling into darkness and despair. We are here on behalf of the thousands of civilians murdered under orders from the current administration, who have no one else to speak for them. And on behalf of the Earthforce units that have joined us to oppose the tyranny that has darkened Earth ever since President Santiago was assassinated three years ago. We are here to place President Clark under arrest, to disband Nightwatch, and return our Government to the hands of her people. We know that many in the Government have wanted to act, but have been intimidated by threats of retaliation against your families, your friends, you are not alone anymore. We call upon you to rise up and do what's right. We have drawn their forces away from Earth, and disabled them. The time to act is NOW! This is not the voice of treason, THESE are YOUR SONS, YOUR DAUGHTERS whose LOYALTIES have NEVER WAVERED. WHOSE BELIEF IN THIS ALLIANCE has forced us to take extraordinary means. FOR JUSTICE... FOR PEACE... FOR THE FUTURE... WE HAVE COME HOME!

  • NOTES (2)

    ADD NOTES
    • General Lefcort also appeared in Babylon 5: In the Beginning. He suggested to Sheridan to not return to his current assignment. But Sheridan disageed with him, went back anyway. When he went back to his assignment, his ship destroyed the Black Star. Upon his return Lefcort said he was glad Sheridan had disagreed with him.

    • When Marcus goes through Franklin's log he runs across a number of entries. The first refers to the death of Franklin's lover Cailyn in "Walkabout." The second seems refer to Marcus's recovery from a fight with Neroon in "Grey 17 Is Missing." This may be an error beause Franklin was on walkabout at the time. The third entry refers to an alien healing machine on Garibaldi in "Revelations." Each of these entries parallel Marcus's situation. The first refers to the death of a loved woman. The second refers to the last time Marcus was willing to sacrifice his life for another. The third refers to the consequences of what he would be doing.

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    ADD ALLUSIONS
    • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: All code names used by Garibaldi on his mission on Mars are from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, including Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, and Doc, the Wicked Queen's castle, and the Magic Mirror.

    • Clark's Note: Scorched Earth Clark's suicide and note is similiar to a suicide and note in the Stanley Kubrick film Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. In that film, an insane American general launches a nuclear strike at the Soviet Union. He kills himself before he is captured and leaves a rambling note that highlighted the letters P.O.E which was the call back code for the bombers.

    • Clarke's Suicide Note: Scorched Earth
Clarke isn't the first one in human histroy with that idea: Hitler issued this order in 1945, to destroy anything of value to the enemy.
