Episode Summary

It is near the end of 2262, and many changes are abound. Londo, G'Kar and Garibaldi have already left, and Franklin will be taking up his new position on Earth shortly. Finally, Sheridan and Delenn leave for Minbar, where the alliance's recently finished headquarters are located.

  • OK

I get it, objects in motion, objects at rest. Clever. OK, so as soon as Lennier showed up I knew something was going to go wrong. I'm at least glad he didn't do anything to actively cause a problem, but given the opportunity he didn't help Sheridan. Granted, he changed his mind, but still. Can't say I got too worked up about it though. I like Sheridan and Delenn, and they've had some great lines, but that aspect of the show never really drew me in, and the Minbari were always the least interesting alien race, so I feel a bit 'meh' over the whole thing. And the whole old guard/new generation thing when they looked back at Babylon 5 was kinda cute, although to me it was a bit more like "ok, all the people you cared about are scattered around doing their thing, and all the people you don't give a crap about are staying." I liked that Londo showed up on Minbar, and knowing that the parasite can be put out of commission with liquor I was ticked that Minbar is a dry planet. I felt bad for him. I wonder exactly what Delenn sensed at the dinner table, and what happened with the gift he left for their son.moreless
  • This show had about four finales. Great Characters though keep you interested. Good turn by Bill Mumy

I've been using Netflix to re-watch some Babylon 5 recently and it's holding up pretty well. But, I am a little more critical of it now. This episode is kind of boring. Objects at Rest is the right title for it. I know it's not supposed to have a lot of action, but it's pretty slow.

The two best parts of it are Bill Mumy's Lenier showing a dark side by wanting (briefly) Sheridan to die. It's a direction you don't want the character to go in...but you understand it. Mumy has had an up-and-down career to say the least but this is a shining moment for him. You feel for him and he pulls it off.

A tear-jerker moment in the show is when Sheridan salutes the C&C staff. Brilliant Chris Franke music. Awesome.

Overall a little too "restful". But, redeemed by those moments. I'm also writing this on the heals of the passing of Andreas Katsulas. His work as G'Kar along with his chemistry with Peter Jurasik's Londo was one of the highlights of this series. Watching them work together is as much fun as watching Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley go at it.moreless
  • Objects at Rest

Objects at Rest was a superb episode of Babylon 5 as Dr. Franklin picks his replacement, Sheridan prepares to go to Minbar with Delenn to live at the new headquarters, and it was cool to see some of the characters replacements on Babylon 5. I enjoyed Londo's surprise visit on Minbar to greet Sheridan and Delenn, which apparently was a cover for his true purpose there. The scenes where Londo talks through the keeper were kind of creepy but perfect. I enjoyed watching this episode because it wrapped every thing up pretty nicely though I wish to know more about what will happen on Centauri Prime and to Londo. I look forward to more Babylon 5!!!!!!!moreless
  • we say goodbye to all the people we have grow to love.

this is the final episode is the babylon 5 show. lisa and michael have left babylon 5 to go to mars for good where he takes over edger industries. steven has also left babylon 5 to go to earth to work back there. g'kar and lyta have gone. and londo is back on centuri prime where he is all alone. sherdian and delenn are leaving to go to minbari. we see a dark side to lenner where there is nearly a accident with sherdian, where he is trapped and lenner leaves him there to die, but comes back to late and runs away. the best scene is where we see sheridan salutes the c and c staff as they say there goodbye to there friend.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Sheridan: (to David) Fight... for what you believe. Which brings me to the .. first piece of advice my dad ever gave me, and now I'm giving it to you. Never...
Delenn: Never start a fight. But always finish it.
      Sheridan: Always finish it.

    • Sheridan: (to David) At times, you may end up far away from home. You may not be sure of where you belong anymore. But home is always there. Because home is not a place. It's wherever your passion takes you.

    • Sheridan: I give you... what little wisdom I have. Delenn... is the greatest ally you will ever have. Her depths of courage and compassion are unmatched in my experience. Look to her... for wisdom and fire in equal measure. And if you ever have any doubt... talk to her. She will never judge you. She will only love you. From time to time, you will make mistakes. They're inevitable. Sometimes those mistakes will be... huge. What matters is that you learn from them.

    • Londo: Now what?
Keeper: Now we await the passage of years.
      Londo: Years?
      Keeper: We are very patient.

    • Londo: When I heard that you were with child, and that you were finally returning here to stay, how could I not come and convey my personal good wishes? I would raise a toast to you, but .. there doesn't seem to be anything at hand. Mr. President, do you have a little brivari? Or perhaps some of that excellent Earth whiskey tucked away in a box somewhere, yes?

    • Londo: Another of the benefits of being Emperor, or president, in your case, is not so much the people who are pleased to see you in office. It's the people who are furious that you're even alive, no less holding a position of power. Knowing that every day you succeed, they die a little more inside, makes the endeavor eminently satisfying.

    • Delenn: There are moments when we all become someone else, something other than what we are. It takes only a moment, but we spend the rest of our lives looking back at that moment in shame.

    • Sheridan: It's good to know that at least one of the old gang will be sticking around for a while.
Zack: Who, me? Absolutely. Hell, I'll probably still be here when they turn off the lights.
      Sheridan: I don't doubt it.

    • G'Kar: (recording message for Ta'Lon) Greetings, Ta'Lon. I'm leaving this message for you because it appears I must leave Babylon 5 sooner than I had intended. I would have preferred to say this in person, but since I cannot, let me say it here. Now that I am gone, someone else must speak for our people. I would like for that person... to be you. Knowing you as I do, Ta'Lon, I'm sure you're wondering, why you? To say the least. Why should you be asked to take on the responsibility of speaking for our people? Why you might accept it is for you to decide. I can only tell you why I've offered it. I believe there is a time for enlightenment and a time for things to get done. I have become a distraction for our people. They require patience, direction, determination, and strength. I have provided a little of the first two. Now, you must provide the rest. You have always been sensible and level-headed. A rock that will never shift or break beneath the demands of our people. And you have been my friend. In my absence, we will need someone to focus on helping our world rebuild and strengthening ties with the Alliance. In order to serve our people here and at home, one must be both priest and warrior in equal measure. In recent months, I have become more priest than warrior. Perhaps, now it is time for someone who is more warrior than priest. You may believe you are not ready, but you are as ready as I was when I first came to Babylon 5. Check the records, I think you'll be amused. When this message has finished, a copy will automatically be sent to Sheridan and the others. They will receive you as they would receive me. Good luck, Ta'Lon. Serve our people... reasonably, fairly, and with honor. The rest will attend to itself.
