  • Probably Babylon 5's best episode - a blaze of glory

This and the last two episodes are simply amazing - three episodes which really push the story arc forwards. This episode offers an amazing display of character development and overall story development in one.

Delenn proves her valor, so does G'Kar, aber this episode is the final proof that Sheridan is destined for greatness. This single episode offers more than many excellent movies and completes Babylon 5's transformation from a mere space station with diplomatic importance to the pivotal place in the galaxy.

Sheridan the soldier becomes the leader who is required to retake Earth from an Adolf Hitler-like President Clark and to defeat the Shadoes once and for all.moreless

  • One of the best, if not the best, episode of Babylon 5

    10
    "Perfect"
This is it. This is their stand. Last two episodes have been amazing but this one is even better. It is amazing episode, packed from the start to end with all kind of action, stunning space battles, brilliant writing, hard moments and decisions, amazing acting. This is just episode you can watch and watch again.

I love the way they show the decisions they are making. They are not just heroes. You could get the story and bring it out easily.. but no, they are making it as hard as it is, showing all the aspects of human heart, showing that it is not easy for them to fire their own people even for protect themselves. It is not easy for them to take such a huge step. But they do and how that is done.. stunning.

And even if it is Sheridan and co episode, it is also Delenn's. I just love the lines she has, going to the Council, all the things she says. They knew it was coming, but they did not acted. Now she does. And it is brilliant, the moment when the first wave of fight is over.. and new hyperpoints forming and they know they cannot take it much longer.. and she comes. It might have been best moment on Sheridan's life, but it for sure, was best moment of that episode.

So powerful, so stunning and so hard on emotion. Amazing episode.moreless

Severed Dreams (3) was a perfect, spectacular and awesome episode of Babylon 5. I really enjoyed watching this episode because there were a lot of cool space battle scenes. Two Earth ships who stood against President Clark have come to Babylon 5, Sheridan is forced to declare Babylon 5 an Independant State, and the Clark Loyalist are forced to retreat when some Minbari ships show up to protect Babylon 5. I thought Delenn, Sheridan, Ivanova, and others all had a lot of character development. This epiosde was intriguing, full of action, and maintained humor as well. I look forward to watching the next episode of Babylon 5!!!!!!!moreless

  • Trivia

    ADD TRIVIA
    • This episode was a source of continuity debates. In a scene destroyers, Roanoke and Agrippa, exit the jump gate. Two cruisers exit the gate with them, along with many fighters. Many fans observed that during the fight, neither one of the cruisers is mentioned or shown. JMS specifically addressed this issue, noting that they didn't have time in the episode to show every single ship being destroyed. They are present in the wide shot as the battle begins. Edit
    • During the battle Sheridan orders a solution on the Roanoke, which is promptly destroyed by the Churchill by ramming it. Then they fire on the Agripa destroying her, but the CGI depicts the Roanoke. Edit
    • While filming this episode, actor Jerry Doyle broke his arm at the wrist. This is why he appears in later episodes in a sling. Notice that at the end of the fight, when Zack is helping him to the ground, he doesn't move his right arm. Edit
  • Notes

    ADD NOTES
    • Joe Straczynski met actor Everett McGill on the set of Twin Peaks and wanted to cast him in the role of Major Ryan. Unfortunately, he could only remember the actor's last name and his staff contacted Bruce McGill to play the role. While this surprised Straczysnki when he arrived on set, it became a happy accident as he was very pleased with McGill's performance. Edit
    • General Hague was supposed to return for this episode. But the actor, Robert Foxworth, got booked on the Star Trek series "Deep Space Nine" on the same week. So, they had to write him out of the story. Coincidentally on Deep Space Nine Foxworth plays an Admiral attempting a military coup. Edit
    • This episode won the 1997 Hugo for "Best Dramatic Presentation." Terry O'Bright, Keith Rogers and Linda Coffey were nominated for the 1997 C.A.S. Award for "Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for a Television Series" for this episode. Edit
  • Quotes

    ADD QUOTES
    • Sheridan: Babylon Control to all Starfury Squadrons. Stand by to attack, but do not, repeat, do not initiate combat. Let them fire first. We won't start this fight, but, by God, we'll finish it. Edit
    • Ivanova: Should we ask Draal to help with the defense? Sheridan: No. He's our ace in the hole. I want to keep him a secret as long as we can. This is our fight, not his. Edit
    • Delenn: Three years. For three years I warned you this day was coming. But you would not listen. Pride, you said, presumption. And now the Shadows are on the move. The Centauri and the younger worlds are at war, the Narns have fallen. Even the Humans are fighting one another. The pride was yours, the presumption was yours. For a thousand years we have been awaiting for fulfillment of prophecy, and when it finally happens, you scorn it, you reject it. Because you no longer believe it yourselves. "We stand between the candle and the star, between the darkness and the light." You say the words, but your hearts are empty, your ears closed to the truth. You stand for nothing but your own petty interests. "The problems of others are not our concern." I do not blame you for standing silent in your shame. You, who knew what was coming, but refused to take up the burden of this war. If the warrior caste will not fight, then the rest of us will. If the Council has lost its way, if it will not lead, if we have abandoned our covenant with Valen, the Council should be broken, as was prophesied. We must stand with the others now, before it's too late. Between the worker caste and the religious caste we control two thirds of our forces. Do you, I say, listen to the voice of your conscience? Break the Council, and come with me. Our time of isolation is over. We move now, together, or not at all. Edit

    • One of the ships in the attacking Earth fleet is the Agrippa, no doubt named after the famed Roman general Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa. Like the starship here, Agrippa commanded a fleet in a civil war, although on the victorious side, winning the Battle of Actium against Mark Anthony. Edit
