    "Perfect"
The Corps is Mother, the Corps is Father was a perfect episode of Babylon 5 which gave viewers more insight into the Psi Corps and Bester. I enjoyed watching this episode because there was more depth to Bester and it was nice to see things from his point of view. This was an interesting telepath story, and the rogue telepath who had multiple personalities was a great character. I really felt for Bester and his associates in this episode as Zac made his feelings about telepaths clear, and seeing how Bester and others have to deal with such fear, mistrust, and hate even when they really are out in the best interest of all. This was a surprisingly great episode and I look forward to watching more!!!!!!!moreless

    ADD TRIVIA
    • Strangely, throughout the episode Walter Koenig never takes both gloves off, always leaving the glove in his left hand even when not wearing his uniform.

    • Bester says to the PSI Cop intern "You just might be PsiCorp material after all" after she kills her first mundane. Surely he means "PSI Cop material" as he has always stated that all telepaths are part of PsiCorp?

  • QUOTES (21)

    ADD QUOTES
    • Psi Cop Bester: Game, set, match, be seeing you, doctor.

    • Psi Cop Bester: Oh, come on, doctor, we have a history here. Tell the truth. You don't want me here a second more than I want to be here. Dr. Franklin: Personally, no. But as a doctor I have to treat all my patients equally, even the annoying self-righteous arrogant ones with self-important delusions of godhood. Psi Cop Bester: Thank you, I feel far more at home now.

    • Jonathan Harris: I didn't do anything. The dark man and the laughing man ... and me and Harris, ... we are all in this together. It's nobody's fault, really. It's nobody's fault. We all did it. You have to understand, please. They made us do this. They got us in San Francisco.

    • Psi Cop Bester: These papers, different styles of handwriting, different names, but not different people. The same person, with multiple personalities. That's why we misidentified his rating. One personality was a P10, the other was a P12. It's rare, but it has happened before.

    • B5 Bartender: I've seen all kinds, kid. Seen an alien come through here last week with eight compound eyes and a glass stomach. Two fingers of gin, he's down, completely unconscious for a two full hours, and he wants to do it again. I've seen a naked Pak'ma'ra once. You know that hump on their back? It's not a hump at all, it's a ...

    • Psi Cop Bester: He was dead before we got here. Zack: Yeah, they told me, but I never let the facts get into the way of a good grudge.

    • Lauren Ashley: You're disobeying instructions. Chen Hikaru: I'm showing initiative.

    • Zack: Don't you ever go away? Haven't you caused enough trouble for one lifetime? Psi Cop Bester: It's a pleasure to see you too, Mr. Allan. Where can I find Captain Lochley? I should check in with her. Zack: She's busy, you can check in with me. Card. So what is it this time, Mr. Bester? Hunting out freedom-fighters, pulling wings off flies, annexing Sudetenland?

    • Chen Hikaru: Does the mothership ever leave hyperspace? Bester: Only for repairs and we can do so it without being seen. No reason for the rest of the world to know what our resources are. The rest of the time it just sits here in hyperspace for months at a time carrying missions back and forth and waiting until we need it, just like all the others.

    • Psi Cop Bester: My parents were killed in an accident. I was barely a month old. When I was put into a foster home, I turned up in a random DNA checks. The Corps took me in, raised me, and taught me that because we are special we need to watch out for each other, even more than we would as mundanes. We are responsible for each other.

    • Lauren Ashley: Do you get used to it? Psi Cop Bester: When it's one of ours, no. With mundanes it's easier. They hate it when you say that, but it's the truth. They kill and enslave and abuse each other with efficiency and enthusiasm. Why should we value their lives when they don't? It's a little harder with rogues and blips. Being a telepath means you're special, and rare, and valuable.

    • Psi Corps Sign: TRUST THE CORPS

    • Babylon 5 Ad: BabCom. .... Stay in touch with family and business alike with state of the art communications and delivery services. Let us be your new partner. ... Babylon 5 for the business of today and the hope of tomorrow.

    • Jonathan Harris: Who do you think you ... who do you think you are? You can't ... you can't hold me. You can't hide from me too long. You can't hide. I told you it was my mind ... I told you it was my mind. You listen? You listen, I told you. You don't listen, you don't hear me, yet you are telling me the same thing. My ... my mind. My mind. My mind. Not yours, my Freud. My mind. My mind, not yours.

    • Psi Cop Bester: There's always somebody or something trying to be the most important thing in the world. No. Much as it might offend their sense of perspective, not everything is about Babylon 5.

    • Psi Cop Lauren Ashley: But I thought Babylon 5 was your main assignment these days. Psi Cop Bester: No, but I'm sure they think so. They have a tendency of putting their station at the center of the universe.

    • Psi Corps Sign: OBEY

    • Psi Corps Sign: Protect the Family

    • Psi Cop Lauren Ashley: Besides, we don't often see a sense of humor in Psi-Cops. Psi Cop Bester: Reports of our depression are vastly exaggerated.

    • Bester: A new doctor goes on rounds at the asylum. He talks to one man. "And who are you?" he asks. The patient says, "I, sir, am Napoleon." "How do you know you're Napoleon?" asks the doctor. "God told me." And from the next bed over comes, "I did not."

    • Chen: It's an honor. I've followed you for years. Bester: So you're the one that's been peeking in my window at night. Chen: No, no...I meant I've been following your work. I didn't mean... Bester: Just playing, Chen.

  • NOTES (3)

    ADD NOTES
    • Bester's quote, "Reports of our depression are vastly exaggerated." is a paraphrase of the common misquote of Mark Twain, "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." The actual quote from June 2, 1897 was "The report of my death was an exaggeration."

    • During the opening credits, instead of a Babylon 5 logo, there is a PsiCorp insignia. The Babylon 5 logo appears at the end of the opening credits on the back end of the station.

    • This is only the second episode since Bruce Boxleitner joined the cast, that he doesn't appear in. In fact the only regulars that do appear are Jeff Conaway and Richard Biggs.

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    ADD ALLUSIONS
    • Jonathon Harris: The rogue telepath Bester is pursuing, played by Dex Eliot Sanders, bears the same name as the character actor who became famous for sharing the TV screen as Bill Mumy's foil on Lost in Space, the comic villain Doctor Zachary Smith.

    • When Zack says to Psi Cop Bester, ".... annexing Sudetenland?" he is referring to the infamous deal on September 29th , 1938 where Adolf Hitler, Neville Chamberlain, Edouard Daladier and Benito Mussolini signed the that transferred Czechoslovakia's Sudetenland to Nazi Germany. This betrayal of the Czech people was preceded by disinformation and agitation by a Nazi financed Sudten-German Party. The Nazi's police arm, the Gestapo, has similarities to Bester's Psi Corps.
