The Bachelor Gaye premiered in 1971 as a comedic television series directed by Ron Way and produced by Nine Network Australia. The Australian comedy features a brother who stirs up trouble when his sister allows him to move in with her family. The Bachelor Gaye filmed a total of eight pilot episodes, however, only five aired on television before they canceled the show. The series was written by Ralph Peters and starred actors Jane Coghlan, John Meillon and Al Thomas.
