The song Pip is singing as he is showering is a parody of "Mister Love Machine."
In "Otis's Mom," it is revealed that Bessy has a long-lost son.
Bessie: I made it with milk from my body.
Otis: Food is my enemy!
Bessy: Whew, what a relief!
Otis: Huh. Not what you usually say when your heart is breaking into a million pieces.
Bessy: I didn't know what was worse - having you for a son or being married to a rat.
Otis: Wow, you already packed a bag and everything.
Pip: I keep it handy in case anyone ever destroys my home.
Otis: Wow, you're a fast-thinking rat with a can-do attitude. Come on, roomie.
"Otis' Mom" was dedicated in loving memory of Lee Paulsen. Lee was the mother of Rob Paulsen, who was the voice of Peck the Rooster on the series.
Pip's opening of the movie with the BHX sign is a spoof of the famous THX sounds at some beginnings of dvds.
The title of this episode alludes to the saying, "Home Sweet Home."
