  • The awesomeness of this episode balances out the fact that it has absolutely nothing to do with Tsubasa Cat.

A few episodes into the series, I still had no clear view as to what "Bakemonogatari" was supposed to be about, eventually coming to accept the fact that it was a fantasy/harem type of story and just kept it at that. Well, for anyone who had any doubts as to what the series was about, this series finale puts all those questions to rest.

While there were signs of the fantastic and outrageous, what with talk of demons ailing a running list of females, that alone surely can't be what "Bakemonogatari" is about. Alright, so what about the excessive amount of sex appeal, going as far as objectifying even the youngest of girls? Some would argue that that's more of a series quirk than something to actually bring the plot along. What about the goofball quasi-mentor in Oshino? Or the weird cut-away effects from the animation studio? While each of these serve as individual aspects of the series, not a single one of them can truly define what the series is about.

Getting down to the meat and bones of the matter, "Bakemonogatari" is just a touching story of a guy and a girl. Sure, we've all seen it before, but it's something that, if done right can be timeless, as I'm sure this series will be.moreless
