This episode is helped tremendously by the verbal sparring between Banacek and Carlie Kirkland. Without it, we have an uninspired mystery that never quite takes off. In true "Banacek" form, the solution is clever, but the episode itself is dull.
The supporting cast is weak, particularly Diana Maitland and the lecherous jeweler. It's especially disappointing since the guest stars in the previous episode (Anne Baxter, Richard Jordan) were so good. The case spends far too much time on one suspect and his bigamy; Banacek does very little sleuthing this time around. In fact, the key to the case comes from him recognizing a photograph. Not bad, but certainly not the show's best.
