i recommend this series if you like BOB

it is not nearly as good but as far as the development of characters and the battles it reminded me of BOB

Sorry man, but Over There doesn't even hold a candle to Band of Brothers. Saying it does is like saying Combat and Rat Patrol are on par with A Bridge Too Far and the Longest Day.

My biggest complaint against Over There was that it used the tired old TV plot device of having the unit taking on whatever kind of mission the writers thought made for interesting television - one episode they are driving supply trucks, the next they are the spearhead for a ground assault, then they are interrogating prisoners with CIA operatives.

    Sorry, that really doesn't happen.

Band Of Brothers was an extended work of art, episode after episode, simply amazing small-screen magic. It makes efforts like Over There and Generation Kill look like the over-hyped excercises in artistic posing they were/are/always will be. These shows had their moments, to be sure, but - it's like comparing The Monkees to The Beatles. The Monkees were a nice little band and had some nice tunes, but they just weren't on the same wave-length as The Beatles. They weren't original source material and anyone who tried to claim that they were came off looking, let's be kind, unimformed. Semper Fi, people; Beatles, er, Band Of Brothers Forever .,.

hmmm thanks guys for stating the obvious, when i said "it is not nearly as good" I meant that BoB had no peers but this TV show was at least in the same genre for those suffering BoB withdrawal symptoms

so ill re-phrase the question since i dont think it came across:

If you have just watched BoB for the umpteenth time and want to watch something in the same genre does anyone have any recommendations?

Over there is flawed for sure but at least it was on a cable channel so it wasnt censored like the network shows such as tour of duty. It as well delved into territory that BoB doesnt: following a soldiers life after he gets his leg blown off and the affects of te war on the soldiers families. Im not too worried if the details are not exact - I just want to watch a war drama show

Thanks for pointing me to Generation Kill, Im gonna give it a watch
