Bank on the Stars

Show Summary

This game show was a movie quiz. Contestants were chosen from the studio audience. Three teams of couples, playing separately, would view a clip from a current or classic movie and then be asked three two-part questions about what they've just seen. The top team would return for the "Bank Night Bonus" round. In this, the contestants would hear a clip, rather than see it. If they answered the one question correctly, they won $500.
When the show began on CBS, Jack Paar was the host. When the series moved to NBC in May 1954, Bill Cullen took over the duties. Cullen departed after the June 10th episode, leaving Jimmy Nelson to host until the series end.

To be honest, I would have preferred to spend my time elsewhere than finish watching this. However, I kept thinking that there is great potential behind this and I was half right. There was potential to say the least but this potential was poorly exploited leaving a show that is half decent. Nonetheless, you really have to see Bank on the Stars to get what I'm talking about.
