      • Howell: Well Jo Jo what would you like to do now?

Joe: We can play some poker.

Howell: Ah poker ain't fun unless you play for money.

Joe: That's what I always play for.

Billy: Well I like to see some of the Master Chefs' work, let me taste that lasagne of yours.

Doris: Papa, don't you go showing this young man bad habits.

Billy: Master taster of the Master Chef.

Baretta: Curl your lips around a little magic.

Billy: No, no Tony, I told you the lasagne needs oregano. And when I say oregano, I mean oregano now put a little of that one there. You younger generation don't know how to do anything right.

Baretta: You're right, when it comes to puttin' oregano on lasagne, the old master is the only one whose got the touch.

Billy: And don't you forget it. You young timers would be lost without us oldtimers to keep you on the track.

Baretta: Yes indeed. Mr. Howell allow me to philosophize for a moment. Maybe one of the reasons this old world has gone so bad, is that we take you old duffers and we stick you out on Sun City instead of keepin' you here, were you could play with the little ones and teach the big dummies.

      • Baretta: You don't want to hear about that huh, well that's fine cuz I ain't in the mood to preach to ya either, but the fact is you did wrong, and you're in trouble, I know you're just a little man but, you did wrong and I'm the heat and somehow you and me gotta come to terms. You understand that. Now it ain't no good just lookin' out there, all you're lookin' at is your mom's face cryin'. Now tell me who sold you the dope. Hmm, don't be afraid little man, I ain't gonna ruff you up to get some information outta ya. I just wanna put you on some kind of program to help ya, ain't gonna be no bust for you or trouble for your family, I just wanna help you, so you can get yourself back together again and start livin'. You ain't even lived yet, your just a little guy, now don't that sound right. Who sold you the dope? Come on man please tell me. Alright your a tough guy huh, well go ahead and be tough, play it your way, but let me tell you somethin' to think about, if you mess up again, you're gonna die little man and they're gonna bury ya and that's gonna kill your mother. Yeah, they're gonna take her to the graveyard. I'm gonna be standin' there lookin' over your mother's grave. That's the way it's gonna go down, so you think about that.

Joe: Mikey, his name is Mikey.

Baretta: Okay listen Little Joe, I'm sorry I was so hard on you, but that's the hand that you drew. You just stay here and take it easy, me and your mom will get you out of this and you'll get a chance to live that life. I'll see ya later.

      • Rooster: Hey Doll, take care of business, keep working, whatever you do, remember GREEN. Alright man, alright man, keep tootin' your horn at me and carryin' on, what is all this noise in the street.

Baretta: Carryin' on cuz I got problems. My lips are worn out askin' people where Scafeli is. What the hell happened to him?

Rooster: Okay man, I know my usual pattern in these occasions is to hit you up for some of that lean green, but ah I can see you mean serious business.

Baretta: I am serious man, where'd he go, what's he doin' is he on the move?

Rooster: Naw the cat ain't on the move man, the man ain't around cuz his connection got turned off.

Baretta: You mean they ain't dealin' to him no more.

Rooster: That's the word. Seems the big timers don't cotton to no baby killers. If you ask me, the cat is out to establish a new connection.

Baretta: I'll see ya later Slick.

Rooster: Yeah, take it easy man.

Baretta: Hey Rooster, if your girls every turn on you, let me know. I'll get ya a badge.

Rooster: Say what man, if one of my girls every turned on me it be a rainy day in hell. I'm tryin' to help you out jive turkey and you talk about the downfall of Rooster! If there was one girl you hear me, one girl she wouldn't turn on me. Jive turkey.

      • Baretta: I'm a little tense you know why.

        Brubaker: Why?

Baretta: On account of two weeks ago, a lady found a kid in the toilet, twelve years old, dead with a spike still in his arm, the week before that it was a thirteen year old, a couple of days ago it was a ten year old. I don't even believe what's goin' on Boss, this is my own town, I've lived here all my life and I don't even know what the hell is goin' on anymore. So if I gotta bust him for spittin', if I gotta tie him up someplace in a toilet then that's what I'm gonna do and if they don't like it then they can sue me for harrassment or for bad police procedure. I don't even know what bein' a cop means anymore, maybe nothin', but anyway if they want me I'm here and I'm easy to find.

Brubaker: Tony, I know you're tired, I know you're hurtin', go home. I'll clean up my own office.
