It was sad to read today about the passing of Ron Carey, who played Officer Carl Levitt.  At the age of 71 he succumbed to a stroke.  As those of us who were fans of Barney Miller know, Ron generated a lot of laughs over the years.  Anybody have a favorite Levitt moment?

I always liked the way he closed the door using that spin move.

There was an episode (I can't remember which one) when Barney was shorthanded in the squad room.  He told Levitt to go change into plain clothes and come work with the detectives.  A little while later, Levitt appeared in his "plain clothes" -- a dinner jacket!

Oh, I hadn't heard. Thanks for posting the news. Little Levitt.

Indeed, sad news.  I regretted they never made a reunion movie.

My favorite Carl moment?  A rather humerous, poignant moment when he was suspected of vandalizing the squad room and he turned out to be innocent. He had a wonderful release of Leavitt angst in the end.

    RIP, Ron.

I'm going a little outside the box with my favorite Ron Carey moment....and that is his work with Mel Brooks. Ron was in High Anxiety and he would pick up Mel's luggage and say "I've got it!! I've got it!!" and then drop the luggage and say "I don't got it"...it was a running gag during the movie...very claasic
