    Carpenter?! Are you serious?!

You ungrateful swine! After all he's done for you!

    Kidding, of course.

I do have to disagree though. Carpenter is pretty great. Roy-O is the only NL'er that can make a legit claim of being better.

I totally agree with Lyle Overbay. Another guy I have to through out there is Dan Wheeler. Not even people here in Houston appreciate him.

actually 19. everyone says hes the best SS when he really isnt I think the best is either Tejada, Jeter, Rollins, or Uribe.

I'm inclined to agree. Reyes was positively dynamic last year and is quickly becoming the games best SS and leadoff man.

However, I think Jimmy Rollins often gets overlooked in that discussion. He can do everything Reyes can, other than switch hit.

I thought Piere was the best lead off man or Damon.

    some more Over/Under

    over: Justin Verlander
    Alphonso Soriano
Eric Gagne (lets see him have a non injury season again)

    under:
    D-Train (Dontrelle Willis)
Braden Looper (went from a crappy reliever to STL`s best starter thus far)
John Maine (gets some attention but it sounds like hes not noticed)

This is only Verlander's second season. I think it's a little soon to call him overrated. He had a stellar rookie year.

Dontrelle was awesome in 04 when he won 22 games, but has been pretty average since.

What do we think about Mark Teixeira? I always thought he was kind of overrated.

not really I think hes fine as is. Yeah I get your point on Verlander. The only reason I said this was because during the WS everyone was like oh hes sooooooo great your cards dont have a chance. Well apparently Anthony Reyes was the better pitcher. He might not have a goodd W-L record but his 06 debut was a 6-inning no-hitter against the White Sox. Who beat the crap out of the cards to games in a row. even though Reyes got the L. It takes a lot to shut the Sox down that long when they woop your ass 20-5 one night and like 14-9 the next.

Have you compared Reyes numbers with any of these guys?  I think Reyes is the number LEADOFF hitter in the major league, it's a good debate if he is the best shortstop or not.

I agree with everything you're saying here. Verlander deserves the recognition with all of the big games he pitched last season.  D-Train has been winning games, but doing it really sloppy for the last three seasons. And i do believe Teixeira is overrated.

I don't know about that. He got a big time deal from the Jays, didn't he?

I could be thinking of somebody else.

well yeah. but still. hes not over. I think Hanley Ramirez (the NL rookie of the year) doest get much attention. He has it all power, speed, deffense, and the rooie of the year award.

He was named Rookie Of The Year. What more do you want?

As far as attention, he plays on a small market team that couldn't even sell out games during the 2003 World Series.

Reyes is a exciting player on a large market team. Better get used to hearing his name.

I do like Jimmy Rollins and Hanley Ramirez though.

I like them too. Oh Lance Berkman. In 06 I think he was starting to get popular but now hes right back to where he was with Lee coming to Houston. Does anyone think Soriano is overrated? I do. Aramis Ramirez isnt noticed to much actually hes probably their best Offensive player they have.
