Set after a great calamity that has thrown the world into chaos, Dark Schneider is an evil and powerful wizard. Having lived for over four hundred years, he spent much of that time killing whoever opposed him, wanting nothing other than to destroy the world and plunder its riches. Eventually, he was sealed away, with most believing him to be dead. Fifteen years later, Dark Schneider is released from his prison. Fifteen years of imprisonment has not changed him, he still desires the world's destruction, but maybe being surrounded by people who care about him can change that...

    Several hundred years, after the fall of human civilization...

    It was a lawless period, a time without order.

    Only blood, flesh, bone, and iron...

    It was also a time of Sorcery...

    Having been terrorized by demonic creatures their entire lives, humans beings were miserably inadequate, and forced to subsist in a barren, bastille environment.

    I can't believe i found this. It has very little information on wikipedia how sad.
    Fearing lawsuits, Pioneer took the Japanese forms of the band names and changed them somewhat when they were put back in English: Megadeth become Megadeath, Helloween became Haro-Wing, Whitesnake became Whiteos-Neiki, and Anthrax became Anslasax. The main city in which the adventure takes place, Meta-Ricana, is actually Metallicana. In addition, there is little swearing in the american dub.
    The magic incantations or spells for the english version also were drastically changed.
    Burning in the depths of the pits of darkness, "let the fires of hell take you! "Let the fires become my sword "and strike you down! Venom!"
    All in all i wish i could of seen it.

    Its so sad that it was never finished. The two final episodes (which would bring the total to eight) are expected to never be created and/or released. As a result, the story ends on cliffhanger. female nudity with a large amount of sexual inuendos drooolsmoreless

  • Wow i can't believe there was a show wuth that as its title and got away with it. Its sad to see shows like these go unheard of.

    Having just recently acquired this short series after a three month wait, I am happy that I waited because I really liked this show; although, I do admit that it could have been a bit...deeper in its story line, but then again how deep can you get with only having six episodes? This show suprised me because I wasn\'t expecting it to be humorous and I have to say that there were some funny scenes that just make you laugh because they are totally unexpected! If you watch this and decide you do not like the plot, then listen to the music, you might like it. Overall I would have to say that if you want a story that more than touches the tip of the iceberg then this show probably is not for you; however, if you are looking for a short six-episode thrill that gives you a little romance as well as humor and action then Bastard!! is for you. Enjoy!moreless

    Bastard!! was originaly released as a series of OAVs in Japan in the late 80s/early 90s. The set of disjointed episodes tell the story of Dark Schneider, an all-powerful sorcerer. Killed several thousand years ago, his soul is ressurected and implanted into the body of a young child in a lastditch attempt to halt a massive demon invasion force led by some of Schneider's old demon buddies. Schneider manages to push back the inital assault, but his soul remains linked with that of the young kid and he gains some of the child's innocence and kindness. Unfortunately what could have been an excellent series is marred by a strange disjointed storyline and fairly average animation. Most of the vilans are pretty forgetable (except perhaps the repentant ninja) and the music is nothing much. Unless you are an absolute fantasy anime fan you'll want to give this one a miss and check out "berserk" or "lodoss war".moreless
