The Riddler comes to Gotham to rig the boxing matches of the champ.

  • The Riddler and his new scheme involve a ring...a prize-fighting ring.

The Riddler vs. Batman in the boxing ring: talk about a mismatch, metal shavings nonwithstanding. Riddler must have been drinking too much of that camel juice. Also explains his attraction to this Betsy Boldface character. Joan Collins does well as the Siren even if her 2 octaves above high C voice does not affect women (see next episode). Interesting that all of a sudden the Commisioner and Chief O'Hara already know about Batgirl; they were not around when she was in her first episode. This was the last episode for Madge Blake (Aunt Harriet) as she was very ill and passed away the following year.moreless

    • Batman: It's lucky you were in the vicinity of Gotham Square Garden. Batgirl: Yes, luck is an important weapon to a woman crime fighter, Batman.

    • Batman: Any last riddles, Riddler? Riddler: Yes. What keeps coming back no matter how many times you throw it away? Batman: That's easy. A boomerang. Riddler: Yes. I... am a boomerang.... and I'll... be... back. (Riddler falls down, unconscious)

    • Riddler: When is the top of a mountain like a savings account? When it piques one's interest!

    • Riddler: Oh, what's looser than a thread? A fish. Flying ribbons! A woman's tongue! Possibly Batgirl's.

    • Riddler: Batgirls wilt just as quickly as other women!

    • Riddler: Riddle me this. When does a painter use a trigger instead of a brush? When he's a stickup artist!

    • Batgirl: What's up your sleeve this time? Riddler: Up my sleeve, Batgirl? Riddle me once. What's most alluring when it's highest or lowest. When it's in the air or in a hole? When it's served you, yet you can't touch it? An enchanting ace!

    • Riddler: Riddle me this, Batman. What are the chilliest 12 inches in the world? Batman: Cold feet! Riddler: Excellent! What suite of cards lays eggs? Batman: One that's chicken-hearted. Now listen to this, Riddler. Sticks and stones may break my bones... Riddler: Now you listen to me, Batman! My line is plugged into radio station GTZR! That means that all of Gotham City. (Giggling) Has heard you called. (Giggling) A coward! (Giggling)

  • NOTES (5)

    ADD NOTES
    • This is the last episode that James Brolin appears in for remainder of the series.

    • The Riddler's right name, Edward Nygma, was never used in the TV series.

    • This is the only time throughout the entire third season The Dynamic Duo are seen executing their famous Batclimb; apparently this is stock footage, perhaps gleaned from Season-1 episode #8723-Pt. 1, "The Penguin Goes Straight".

    • This is the final appearance of Frank Gorshin as The Riddler, despite his claim that, "like a boomerang, I shall be back." Oh, The Riddler does return, in Episode #1722, "The Entrancing Dr. Cassandra" (March 7, 1968), but Gorshin does not!

    • Madge Blake (as Aunt Harriet) makes one of 2 cameo appearances on Batman in this episode. This was done to accommodate her ill health (she succumbed to a heart attack at age 69 on February 19, 1969).
