'Batman' was an exciting show when I was young. As you watch it again after all these years you are suprised by its comedic qualities. How could kids not see through this? I'm sure adults enjoyed it even more because of its tongue in cheek. As Chandell Liberace is not much of a villain, but he is a great source for comedy. (And I'm not even talking about his questionable acting skills.) Was the warning that Chandell had 'a reputation as a ladies man' as funny then as it is now, when we know more about Liberace? In the two halves of the episode there is plenty to enjoy. Bruce Wayne interrupting his camping holiday with fellow millionaires because he has heard Candell play one wrong note, certainly a suspicious event. Dick Grayson acting like a typical lovestruck teenager, until he gets a message from Batman. Batman getting out of trouble by singing the correct notes that punch his outline in the infernal piano roll machine. Aunt Harriet turning into a detective herself. And my favourite moment: Commissioner Gordon stating that the most beautiful words in the English language are 'To the Batmobile, Robin'.
