  • Awesome Catwoman debut

    9.0
The way they show only her body for the first five minutes before finally shedding light on her angelic face is fantastic!
  • We get our first look at Catwoman and quite a sight it is. My only real negative for this episode is the rather lackluster fight scene.

    8.7
Batman and Robin are finally matched against the Catwoman. This meeting doesn't have the "charged" interplay between Batman and Catwoman that we come to see in the later episodes. Even Robin is knocked out from the scratch of a real cat and not Catwoman herself.

After Batman and Robin later fall through a trap door, they are faced with spike-linked walls that start closing in. Batman directs Robin to lay on the floor in order to protect him. This turns out not to be the cliff hanger, however, as the wall stops as Batman finds the spikes are made of rubber. Robin is soon whisked away through a tube in the ceiling leaving Batman alone in the room. Catwoman presents him with the task of choosing one of two doors: one to freedom, the other unleashes a Batman-eating tiger. The episode ends with Batman choosing the "wrong" door.

    • Batman: Robin, you haven't fastened your Safety Bat-Belt.
Robin: We're only going a couple of blocks.
Batman: It won't be long until you're old enough to get a driver's license, Robin. Then you'll be able to drive the Batmobile and other vehicles. Remember: motorist safety.
Robin: Gosh, Batman, when you put it that way...

    • Leo: There's no need for you to wait in line. You're on official business, aren't you?
      Batman: I'd rather not say.
Leo: There's no charge for you, go right in.
Batman: No, I'd rather pay just like any other ordinary citizen.

    • (After Robin has passed out)
Catwoman: Poor little, Robin. Did the itty-bitty kitty ruffle your feathers?

    • Catwoman: Felix?
      Felix: Yes, Catwoman?
Catwoman: You can brush my pussy willows before you leave. And don't go against the fur.
Felix: I'll treat them like they was my very own.

    • Batman: You feline devil! What have you done with Robin?
Catwoman: Ahh! Is that any way to greet an old friend, Batman? Not even a Hello, how are you?

    • Robin: Gato and Chat Fur Company. Gato means cat in Spanish and chat means cat in French! Only the Catwoman would choose a hideout with those names.
Batman: I'm glad you're up on your foreign languages, Robin. They come in handy when fighting crime.
Robin: Si, si, Batman. What do we do now?

    • Narrator: Will Batman ever see Robin alive again? Will Robin ever see Batman alive again? Will our daring duo escape the claws of the wily Catwoman? The answer to these and many other terrifying questions tomorrow night, Same Cat Time, Same Cat Channel!

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Catwoman: (Batman and Robin in a trap) I'm bored with you, Batman. The time is come to separate Damon from Pythias.
In ancient Greece, Pythias and his friend Damon traveled to Syracuse where Pythias was sentenced to death for plotting against the tyrant Dionysius I. Pythias asked to be allowed to return home to settle his affairs. Dionysius vetoed that idea but accepted having Damon as a substitute who would die if Pythias did not return by the appointed time. Pythias went home. The date came and at the last moment Pythias returned apologizing for being late. Pirates had captured his ship and thrown Pythias overboard. Dionysius was so impressed with Pythias' true friendship that he pardon him and kept both friends on as advisers to his court.
