    See the series finale of JLU for evidence on how Superman CONSTANTLY holds back. In that episode, he finally stops holding back and does things that we have never seen him do in the DCAU before.

    Whats to say that Mr. Starro in the call part 2 was making Clark hold back? Or in Legacy on the Superman show, I mean he was under some one else's control. Someone that would want Superman to give it his all. I hate to say it but destroyer kind of reminded me of ( I guess any flight battle between superpowers has been lately) Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball series (ends at Z, GT is non existant in my book). The same could be said with the last Matrix.
