  • Harley Begins

Harley I always thought was a fun but somewhat sympathtic villian. Though her origin has been a little enigmatic until now.

We see who she was before (she really does look better without the hat and makeup) as just a regular person like anyone else but how she slowly but surely fell into the Joker's spell which is both a facinating but also disturbing transformation as we see from her note taking in the latter sessions it starts to lose reason.

In a way I can't help but feel that what Harley is going though is what is called Stockholm Syndrome. It's a psychological condition where the victim falls in love with their captor. This makes her character somewhat tragic because she thinks she's in love but she might not really be, it could be more the idea of loving another. We got to see that Harley really can do well without the Joker may'be ever smarter than him, and not just came up with a logical plan on killing Batman (which was simply shooting him) but was able to execute the Joker's plan well. And my heart slightly sank when we see once again "The Joker" being abusive toward Harley for no good reason, he just pushes her out the window almost killing her, that made me mad and hope Batman beat the tar out of the Joker and of course Batman does.

The end sort of gives me a sad and grim feeling inside just as Harley was coming back to her senses she sees the same flower Joker gave her the first time he saw her, it just showed Harley soul is forever lost.
  • What makes Harley tick.

I really liked this episode because it was a little more dark than the other episodes of the show. Adapted from the comic book of the same title, it shows how Harleen Quinzel, a clinical psychologist at Arkham Asylum, fell under the spell of the Joker. We see our favorite laughing girl go from a stable member of society to a stark, raving lunatic in the Joker's league. We also get to see the Joker at his darkest both for what he does to Harley near the end and his fight with Batman on top of a moving train. I think that's the first time we see the Joker REALLY angry for once. If they ever bring Harley into any of the live-action films, I can only see one of two actresses playing the part: Sarah Michelle Gellar (with her martial arts background, I could believe her holding her own against Batman) or Jamie Pressley (a trained gymnast, she'd make her moves believable also).

In this episode, we get a look at why Harley Quinn went to work with the Joker.

It was a really great way to complete the series and it couldn't have gone better.

Sure, there where goofs in the episode like the costumes in the Flashback.

This was a great episode, that I think could not have gone bad no mattter what they do to it. All and all, watch this episode if your looking for good storytelling.

This is one of the best episodes that this series had and if you wondering about Harley's origins, watch this episode on the BGK series set.
  • Finally on TV, it's shown the origin of Harley Quinn and how she became the sidekick of the Clown Prince of Crime.

It's the adaptation of "Mad Love" that was published originally on the comic book version of the Batman Animated. I love Harley Quinn! I have that comic obviously and I loved when they could make the animated version and just in time since Mad Love was the previous episode to the last one of the TV Series. Harley Quinn was created for the Batman Animated series but she became so popular that it was introduced to the comic book universe of DC Comics, but to my opinion, only Paul Dini can write about Harley Quinn. Only him can understand her and show her as an insane criminal but funny. The key thing about Harley is that she is a bad girl but she still is funny in a charmed way. She haven't kill anybody like The Joker, so she can still be funny without a tag of killer on her. If you like Harley, you can't miss this episode.

This was by far from my point of view the best or one of the best episodes in the series. I love Harley Quinn and she is my favorite villain. The moment when Joker kicked Harley out the doors after she tried to flirt with him had me laughing out loud. The recap of how Harley became Harley was perfectly written to fit in with the Batman the Animated Series and Batman: Gotham Knights story lines. After I saw the flashback and figured to myself that Harley had stuck by Joker for over 5 years broke my heart when he pushed her out the window. I thought that she'd actually seen "The error of her ways" at the end until she found Mista J's love note: "Feel Better Harley. Luv, Mista J."
  • Greatest episode in this show.

I think that is really the greatest episode in this series. Not only we get to see Harley's origin story, but we also see how she almost killed Batman, just to be with her puddin. The animation is quite good, and the fact that the voice cast is the same from the previous show, makes it a one of a kind. Mark Hammil does a great job by doing the Joker's voice, while Arleen Sorkin does a great job doing Harley's voice... Cute and psychotic at the same time. The jokes just keep coming, while the action takes place. Plus, the fact that we see once again a demonstration of the Joker's love for Harley in the ending of the episode, makes us wonder if behind that psychotic personality of his, he really loves Harley. And once again, she tries to resist his charms, by calling him every name in the book, but in the end, she just has a sentence to describe him and his actions: "A murderous, manipulative, irredimable... angel...".
  • An interesting look into Harley's psyche.

I love this episode, mainly because it has some great development on the character of Harley Quinn.

After another failed plan to kill the Batman, Harley reflects on how and why she ended up with the Joker in the first place, remembering when she was a psychiatrist and came to sympathise with the Joker enough to become like him. The relation between the two in the flashbacks is portrayed rather well, mixed with the Joker's wonderful insanity.

Afterwards, Harley hatches her own plan to kill Batman, and it almost works. Basically, Batman teases Harley a bit, causing her to doubt whether she should still have faith in the Joker or not. And the bit where Joker throws her out the window...genius.

The ending is rather touching (but I don't want to give it away.) All in all, one of the best.
