EXCELLENT EPISODE! I loved watching this episode. I didn't expect Killer Croc to be Batman at all when I was watching the episode. I like how they encorperated the top 7 villains (Joker, Two Face, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, Harley Quinn and Catwoman) into one episode. I thought that Joker's story was the best but that Penguin came closest. Trapped in a room with poisonous birds chasing you is scary. I also liked Harley and Batman at the end of the episode. Catwoman saying "Almost got 'im" at the end was the perfect closer for the episode. It could have been improved but I feel the episode was one of the greats.

This episode is my favorate of all because it has a lot of things. From the non linar story telling style which is similar toward the neo noir film "Reseviour Dogs" but most of all that it's like a lot of Batman adventures rolled in one.

I like how everyone of these characters are at their best from the humor which is black and dry, one scene in a brief interaction with Poison Ivy and Two Face which has one of my favoarte quotes and just made me laugh.

Two Face: "Half of me wants to strangle you."

Poison Ivy: "And what does the other half want."

Two Face: "The other half wants to hit you with a truck."

After what Poison Ivy did to him in one episode I don't blame him.

But we pritty much see from their perspectives in how they tell the story all of the close calls they came to killing the Batman, and their opinions about their efforts. The Joker of course is just being insulting of all their efforts sort of his way of saying "I'm better than you are."

I personally think all of their efforts are comendable even though they didn't work in the end. From Poison Ivy who has exploding Jack O Landerns, Penguin with killer birds, Two Face with a giant coin, Croc well I can't comend his effort since it sounds pathetic but trust me there is a reason for this, and of course the Joker's story when he has Batman in the chair.

I just love how all these stories in the end all add up to a twist in the end, where there was really only one person that almost got the Batman. Who it was I'll let you find out.

I liked the penguin so much... the Joker is still the King!!

    -------------------------------

    Two-Face: Whose deal is it?

Penguin: Mine. I find your medley imaginations mildly diverting; but for sheer criminal genius, none surpasses my most recent ornithologically inspired entailment...

Joker: Smaller words, please. You're losing croc.

    Croc: uhhhh..

    ---------------------------------

Penguin's proven time and again that he has a punch in his lines.. As for the Joker, he still the King of lines..

Joker: Each of us has an "almost got 'im" Batman story. I know mine's the best, but lets hear yours anyway.. I would say ladies first, but since we don't have any, why don't you start off Pam?

well this is one of my favorite episodes on the batman animated series volume 2 dvd set. A bunch of batman's villains namely Joker, twoface, Penguin, poison Ivy, and killer Croc decide to have a poker game and they all tell astory of how they almost got batman. Now joker was almost sucessful btu he still hadn't killed batman and he took catwoman hostage. it turns out that batman is dressed up as killer croc and he finds put where catwoman is and saves her then everyone else in the bar turned out to be gotham PD. I really liked it in this episode when twoface is drinking coffee and puts half and half in his coffee. later...
  • How often do you get all the best villans in one room in one episode?!!

I love it! I love it! I love it! This episode was perfect. I always used to wonder if the villains ever got together to tell 'the one who got away' stories. I got my answer. The dialog is great, each character has great lines, and you remember why you loved those evil-doers in the first place. The Joker, Penguin, Croc, and Two Face regale each other with tales of yore over a hand of poker. Topic of choice: The Batman, of course. They take turns telling how 'they almost got em'. Egos at their peak, each think their story is better than the next. Soon, Poison Ivy busts up the testosterone fest and adds her tale to the pot. We end with the Joker whose plan is currently in action. Check it out to see if he's successful.
  • Gotham\'s Villian\'s Finest are together in a bar for a poker game. Each then share how thet almost got him (the Batman) killed.

This show was well written and is one of my favorites of the series. This is one of the shows that contained most of the villians all at once. I wish they did an episode like ths in the JLU for another crime fighter or the whole league. You never know.

This one had me cracking up! It was beyond hilarious!! First of all seeing all these big bad guys comiserating (sp?) instead of killing each other was a thrill and then their stories! Ha, ha, I loved it, episodes like this make the characters all the more beloved, it never hurts to see their human side!

Such a quality episode, one of my all time favorites. it makes you laugh but there is still plenty of action to keep it really fast paced. Besides, I love any episode that has Harley Quinn in it. :) You get to see all the bad guys hanging out, which you always kinda imagine them doing anyway. I mean, they spend so much time in Arkham together, why not be friends?
  • Bah! Just because you mundane miscreants have no DRAMA in your souls!

This episode seems to be held in high regard among fans of the series and it's not hard to see why.

The basic plot is that five of Batman's worst enemies get together to share stories about how they 'almost got 'im'. I actually think this is an interesting premise, since just about every episode shows how the villains almost succeeded. The segments have the same level of excitement, action and drama you would expect from a Batman episode, and the interactions between the villains are quite humourous (ie. when Penguin is made fun of for his 'Aviary of Doom' and Croc's story.) Definately one for the history books.
  • Best Batman episode in the DC Comic series or any other, but not by a huge margin. It's always great to see the biggest Batman villians in one episode especially one with the comedic twist this one has between the Penguin's "Aviary of Doom" and Crocs "bi

Yes folks, this is the pinnacle of B:TAS. All other episodes pale in comparison to this one. At least as I see it.

It has it all: multiple villians, traps, hair of the teeth escapes, and one huge setup. What else could you want from Batman?

Mind you, it is a little cheap that he would go to this level to find his kitten, but that's okay. It's all for show anyways.

It was great when the light swings to reveal, in shadow, the mask behind the mask. Or when Croc tells his story:

Croc: "There I was. Holded up in this quary. When Batman came nosing around. He was getting closer. Closer"

    Ivy: "And?"

Croc: "I threw a rock at him."

    [huge pregnant pause]

Croc: "It was a big rock"

My favourite line in all of B:TAS. If you could only ever watch one more episode, this should be the one.
