Batman: The Animated Series

One of Batmans greatest foes in the comics, Bane is not given justice in his appearance however, through his lips focing him into the look of a silly mexican wrestler.

The story was good, but would of benefited from another episode (2 parter) to allow viewers to see Banes true planning intelect as seen in knightfall. Although a much better representation of the character compared to Schumachers tame "reatarded" thing, Bane is his own man, with goals only of his own and should not be introduced as a mob bosses hired hand.

I did also, enjoy the allusion made back to knightfall, when Bane cradles Batman above his head- preparing to cause some spinal damage. This image showing how the shows team adapted from Batmans comic sources so professionally.

This verison of Bane is so much better then the movie version! You can see how Bane is able to tell what Batman is going to do. With following Killer Croc, to knowing he was watch him and Thorne (or at least knew Robin was), to when he knew where he call Batman. While I have never read the comic book I know several fans have pointed out the similar times when Bane is about to break Batman's back. (In the comic he actually does break his back, you will have to see this episode to find out if does or doesn't.) I love how the pay homage to the comics. It just another wonderful example on how cool Batman is.

Bane was always a personal favorite of mine. He is a great villian with a great back story (see Vengence Of Bane). This episode showed a very breif clip of him in the Santa Prisca prison going through the Venom transfusion which is a cool scene. The main story though involes Rupert Thorne hiring Bane kill the Batman. It's a fun episode which has some refrences to the Awesome comic book story arc. Knightfall. One of my favorite scenes though is when Bane is about to break Batman's back (refrence to Knightfall). Overall this episode may not be the best but it sure is fun.

Bane, the subject of a dangerous experiment in enhancing strength, has been hired by Rupert Thorne to take down Batman. When Bane captures Robin and uses him as bait, Batman is left to face one of his most dangerous battles.



This certain episode was based on the Batman 'Knightfall' story arc, but I haven't read it so I can't compare. However, this was one of Batman's more exciting episodes. Bane was a brilliant villain, MUCH better than the Neanderthal-like Bane in Batman and Robin. Joel Schumacher should definately watch this episode. Bane was everything a good villain should be: clever, conniving and a definate threat to the hero.



Although I haven't read 'Knightfall', I know Batman's back gets broken and I really hoped it would happen here. But it doesn't. Although this was a good episode, I would've rather seen it as a two-parter.
