Episode Summary

EDIT

Batman encounters the new cat burglar in town, a young woman who is appropriately dressed like a cat. He doesn't have much time to worry about her, however, because the city is buzzing with word of a new terrorist group in town, led by the sinister Red Claw . . .

  • Hooked

    8.0
This is where ti all started and I was hooked.

Between the darkness, amazing character development and animation this had me hooked on Batman TAS.

Red claw comes to Gotham and is going to gas the entire town unless Batman can stop the terrorist organization. There's only one problem, Cat woman is on the scene as well and she is more than a distraction for him.
  • When the cat met the bat!

    9.0
It has been a long while since I've watched this series, but I'm glad I've finally managed to get my hands on some of the DVDS because this is top-notch entertainment.

The title sequence had the hairs on my neck standing tall, it just brought back so many fond memories of this show to me. This episode does not disappoint in the slightest. It kicks off with an energetic chase sequence between two of DC's most iconic characters and never lets up after that.

So much is packed within these 25 minutes and this is only the first part. The juxtaposition between Batman and Catwoman's relationship and Bruce's and Sylene's is dealt with extremely well, with plenty of chemistry thrown into the mix, it's interesting to note how shy Bruce seems to be when he's not masquerading around Gotham in his suit.

The animation immediately jumps off of the screen - the fight scenes are fluid, Gotham is captured with a menacing quality and the overall tone is far from the habitual playfulness of previous animated shows.

With sparkling dialogue and instantly likable characters, this opening episode delivers in spades. The music is superb and the voice acting is flawless. Conroy's Batman sounds so young in comparison to, lets say, his Batman in JLU, but that's to be expected. He's simply getting to the role we know he eventually masters and embodies the voice of Batman. Terrific stuff!moreless

  • Not too strong for an opener

    6.5
This episode involves the introduction of Catwoman (and Red Claw). I felt that Red Claw was not a good choice for a character for a first episode. (she doesn't end up getting used again). The storyline and interactions between Catwoman and Batman (and Bruce Wayne for that matter) is much more compelling. If they had eliminated the two parter and gone with an opener involving Catwoman only I would have been much more pleased. Red Claw as a character is simply not strong enough for a two part episode...especially considering there weren't too many of them in the entire series.moreless
  • Good episodes but should have been just one part

    6.0
Note:This is a review for Cat and the Claw part 1 and 2

While the attraction between Batman and Catwoman and the attraction between Bruce and Selina was good the Red Claw terrorist plot was not needed and belonged in a seperate episode. This episode could have easily been a one parter with Batman chasing Catwoman around then Bruce meets Selina at the auction, Batman and Catwoman flirt some more, Bruce and Selina go on their date, Bruce finds out that Selina is Catwoman. He comes to her place as Batman right as she's about to leave as Catwoman. And arrest her. And the Red claw plot with Catwoman returning and teaming up with Batman could have been a seperate episode.moreless
