  • I don't believe it, The Terrible Trio are in an episode that's actually...good? And on top of that they are cool?

Very entertaining, I love this kung fu mumbo jumbo, the evil students, the good student, the sensei which is killed by the evil students, the good student wants revenge. The action is fantastic, and in my opinion the best I had seen from the show when this episode first aired. The mutated animal forms may be hokey, but I love it. Especially Bronze Tiger's. The opening has Jonah Hex teaming up with Batman, it is fantastic and Jonah Hex is naturally, very awesome.

The violence is taken up a notch, we get another death, this time it is murder, Blue Beetle sacrificed himself, the sensei is just killed. The way Bronze Tiger defeated Fox was a bit brutal, he breaks his legs and his arms. Batman cheating was, I don't know, I didn't like it, but it's a small quibble in a very awesome episode.

This episode does what The Batman and even Batman: The Animated Series failed to do, have the Terrible Trio as credible threats, this episode goes beyond that basic achievement and makes them cool on top of that. I really enjoyed this, and Bronze Tiger was a good guest hero.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Despite the fact that that the ninja disappear in sunlight, they wait until only a few minutes before sunrise to launch their attack on the Wudang Temple.

    • It's never explained how, or why, Batman is in the Old West. In his prior time travel jaunt, in "Day of the Dead Man!" he specifically had to travel to the future to get a vaccine, but no such reason is indicated here.

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Batman: Fox joined the legendary Shadow Clan, who only exist at night. If they combine their power with that of the totem, they would be unstoppable.
Bronze Tiger: Ghost ninjas, magic totems... now I remember why I left this place.

    • Bronze Tiger: Get in the ring, Batman.
Batman: I'm not here to fight.
Bronze Tiger: I know. You're here to lose!

    • Ace: On account of being a no-good, bounty-hunting polecat who tried to bring down the Royal Flush Gang, one Jonah Hex is sentenced to death. Come noontime, the old station whistle gonna wail, and send these here horses, and you, scattering to the four corners of the west. Any last words?
Jonah Hex: Sure do. But ain't none of 'em fit to be spoke in front of the lady.

    • Jack: Madre mia! Es el bat hombre!
Batman: (in Spanish) To gamble with crime doesn't pay!

    • Jonah Hex: Well, I suppose you'll be wanting a share of the bounty for these here outlaws.
Batman: Keep it. I fight for justice, not money.
Jonah Hex: At least take this and get yourself a proper cowboy hat. I can't be partnering up with someone who parades around in that ridiculous bat getup.

    • Wong Fei: Night after night, you return. Surely you must be running out of henchmen. When will you abandon these foolish attacks?
Fox: When you're dead and the totem is in our hands.
Wong Fei: Then this could be long time. Snack?

    • Batman: Your crime spree just spun you into the slammer, Top.

    • Bronze Tiger: You're outmatched.
Batman: Maybe. But you left the school before learning Wong Fei's most important lesson: when outmatched, cheat.

    • Bronze Tiger: He thinks he's going to take over Hong Kong with a few mystic mutants.
Batman: No, he's going to take over Hong Kong with a few hundred mystic mutants.

    • (after mystically transforming into their totem animal forms)
Bronze Tiger: I think I could get used to this.
Batman: Wings, blindness, horrendously disfigured face. I think I prefer my ridiculous costume.

  • NOTES (3)

    • Fox: If it isn't the prince, and the pauper.
Referencing Mark Twain's 1881 novel telling of two identical-appearing boys, Tom Canty and Edward VI, living in 1547. The two meet and switch places and each learns to deal with the advantages and disadvantages of the other's life, and learn to appreciate what they have.
