It's short run belies the how the ratings were, and they were low for a reason. Not only does Battle Dome try to compete with the already established show "American Gladiators", but it also added drama into a genre that really didn't need any. The show was as much about the characters as it was about the physical competition, and it detracted from the normal trash talking that goes on in that environment. The series didn't need the "flair" of profession wrestling, but they worked hard to add it in.
I happened to catch this when it aired back in 1999, and I never bothered trying to watch the second episode.
