I really enjoy this Battle Of The Blades it is so hard to pick who the best couple are because each couple are so good.

Not usually my cup of tea...

...and its not likely I will dedicate myself to watching this one regularly either, but it was still interesting, surprising and occasionally very entertaining to watch these big galumphing hockey players (all of whom are much bigger than the skaters' original male partners) and these teeny, tiny pro lady figure skaters do their "thing".

The fact that in the case of this "reality game show" the winners are not the performers but rather, are specific charities hand-picked by each half of the pair (in other words, one winning pair garners two winning charities) makes this one a bit less odious than other similar shows.

Okay, so except for maybe Ron Duguay and Tie Domi, the hockey players never did any REAL skating...not of the "figure" variety anyway, its still in the spirit of good fun and good causes, not specifically personal gain, that they even agree to do this. As for the figure skaters it was really great to see ladies like Barb Underhill and Christine "Tuffy" Hough (now Sweeney) back in action.

All in all CBC, if you HAVE to join the ranks of homegrown reality shows, this isn't half bad. B for effort...moreless
