Tyrol discovers the Eye of Jupiter on the algae planet. The discovery leads to a showdown between Adama and the Cylons. In the preview, D'Anna Biers/Number Three proposes a trade. If Adama turns over the Eye of Jupiter (which provides a roadmap to Earth), then the Cylons will leave the Colonial fleet alone. Cavil chimes in that the Cylons will even hand over Baltar too.

The bonus clip on SciFi.com didn't show much. It was about a minute and a half of Tyrol walking up a grassy hill while looking puzzled. At the very end, he entered a grand chamber and saw some very large structures. Presumably this was the Eye of Jupiter.

This episode will be the last episode of 2006. It will also be the last episode to premiere on a Friday. The 2nd half of the season resumes on Sunday, January 21 at 10 pm. Mark your calendars.

    Battlestar Galactica mid-season finale
EPISODE 10: THE EYE OF JUPITER
    WRITTEN BY: Mark Verheiden
    DIRECTED BY: Michael Rymer

Logline: The possible discovery of the Eye of Jupiter on the algae planet leads to a deadly stand-off, as the Cylons and humans risk all for a chance to find the way to Earth.

While working on the algae planet, Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) discovers the Temple of Five, reputed to be the home of the Eye of Jupiter, which will guide the ones who discover it to Earth. His report is intercepted by the Cylons, who request a meeting with Adama (Edward James Olmos) and Laura (Mary McDonnell). Their proposal: let us have the Eye and we will let you leave unharmed. Adama's counter-proposal: make any move to take the Eye and we'll nuke the planet.

The Cylons bring another piece of news: Sharon (Grace Park) and Tyrol's (Tahmoh Penikett) baby is alive, but not well. Sharon is initially skeptical, but when Adama confirms that Laura hid the baby at her school, she and Tyrol being to make plans to rescue her.

As the standoff continues, tensions rise in both camps. On the Cylon baseship, D'Anna's (Lucy Lawless) sense that she and Baltar (James Callis) share a destiny that might not include the others sows dissension, while on the algae planet, efforts to protect the Eye are complicated by Lee's simmering affair with Kara (Katee Sackhoff), especially since Lee (Jamie Bamber) is counting on Anders (Michael Trucco), Kara's husband, to rally the civilians to the cause. Then the Cylons launch a flight of raiders, bound for the algae planet, forcing Adama to show he's not bluffing.

Well, this sounds like a GOOD episode! I like the new, cuckolded Anders quite a bit, Lee came off very second best there, he sounded condescending and got called on it.

If it's half as good as the preview hints, it will erase the mess that was this week's episode for me.

I think that Space Lion means that it is Sharon and Helo's baby - not Tyrol's as listed in G Threat's summary.

Ronald Moore said that the Temple of the Five on the algae planet is directly related to the five unseen Cylons.

He also mentions in that interview that Athena final finds out that Hera is alive. That should be interesting to watch.

Its a given that the episode will end with a cliffhanger probably something to do with nukes.

Ive also learned that in the next episode "rapture" that picks up the cliffhanger baltar will return to Galactica. That'll be interesting to see.

    man what an episode

things are alot more complicated now, Athena knows about the hera  now but it wasn't quite the reaction that was expected. Adama did seem mad about the whole thing.

The other thing that is nagging me is where did the nukes comefrom since there where only 4 counting the one baltar had durring season 1 and one of them was used to take out the base star at kobol, so did some get moved to galctica from the pegasus and why has galactica never used its missle launchers before?

can't wait to january to see how it all works out

Not a big cliffhanger but interesting i'm wondering if the cylons are really that ready to hand over Balthar since him and six and debiers are so close.  I like that the baby is now out of the bag and I can't wait to see how that affects ship relations.  One thing I would love for one of you guys to explain the whole 5 cylons i'm not understanding.  I never got the impression that the human form cylons just came together one day immaculately so what is with the whole death and resurrection id hunt?

I was right about the nuke cliffhanger.

It'll be great to see how adama handles all this.

Im pretty sure the temple of 5 relates to the finle 5 cylons.

Although nobodys sure i believe the finle cylons are the lords of kolbol or something like that
