Since the preview scene has been posted on the Sci Fi site, I'm starting up this thread now.

This is the flashback episode that has been discussed on the forum over the past two or three months. Most of the scenes in the episode are flashbacks from the "lost year" that was skipped over in the Season Two finale.

Boxing plays a large part in the episode. It looks like it was influenced by Cinderella Man and Million Dollar Baby, but that's just a guess.

A note to track and steling: This is the episode I was talking about before. I don't know how brutal the scene is but there will be a particularly violent fight between Lee and Kara.

NOTE-BSG is taking a week off because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Tune in 2 weeks from now for "Unfinished Business."

The previews reminded me more of the movie Annapolis (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417433/), especially considering this provides an arena where a soldier can legally punch the crap out of a superior officer. Were many fans disappointed that Kara and Lee didn’t end up together? That’s honestly where I thought their story-arc was headed. Maybe the writers felt that would be too predictable.

I’m not certain the episode will touch on this in the flashbacks, but does anyone think that Colonel Tigh didn’t lose his eye the way he described it? I’ve just always thought it strange that they tortured Tigh that way. Now that I’ve seen a Cylon torture scene, I’m even more suspicious. Poking out an eye doesn't seem to be their style. I’m wondering if he somehow poked his own eye out in an escape attempt or something.

Maybe the different models have different interrogation techniques. We've seen that the different Cylon models have different philosophies and beliefs.

Good point. Both the Cavil models and the Doral models seem to be more ruthless. The D'Anna models seem to be a bit steelier than either the Sharon models or the #6's. The Leoben models just seem to be stark-raving mad!

I hate that we have to wait an additional week! Will they be showing reruns next week?

No. Sci Fi always shows movie marathons (or Twilight Zone marathons or something similar) during holiday weekends. They show BSG marathons too, but usually only during the week before a new season or half season starts up.

Though BSG is my favorite current show, it'll be nice to take a little break. The intense drama is great but I need a change of pace every so often. Hopefully the new Bond movie, Casino Royale, is as good as the reviews are saying.

I think that this episode is going to answer alot of questions about what happen durring the 4 months we missed between season 2 and 3, but why have it focus on a boxing match?

    It just seems odd

We've seen sparring sessions between Adama and Lee in previous episodes so Adama's interest in boxing is nothing new. And boxing tournaments have long been popular in military organizations. It makes sense that the Colonial forces would have boxing tournaments as well.

perfect for flashbacks. it`s a way for them to get into the huge life-threatening all-out fight they need and have it be LEGAL! it`s like when kara took up over-drinking and they used that as a flashback referrence to Anders.

I just realized that the boxing tournaments are taking place in the current time of the series. They aren't the flashbacks themselves. I think the match between Kara and Lee is supposed to be taking place "now," not as a flashback.

Yeah i though i read that it was just supposed to explain some of the feelings like the kara - lee rift so those will be the flachbacks, then we'll have somehting to reingite whatever it was, then they'll get over it again. A boxing match is a good way to get over all those issues isn't it? who needs talking.

This sounds like a classic Battlestar Filler, but I enjoy most of then so it should be good.

Starbuck and Apollo are nearly destined to be together. But they have a lot of stuff between them. Beating the hell out of each other is a good way to get that pent up "whatever" out of them. I love in the commercial when Helo says "It looks like they want to kill each other" and Dualla says "Well, that's one theory." The line between Frakking and Fighting is a thin one, especially with these two.

I for one am looking very much forward to this episode. Filler? I think not. I think a lot of questions about that lag-time will be answered. And not just those pertaining to Starbuck and Apollo, but about Tigh, Adama, Pres Airlock, and other important characters.

Edit: What the Frak? Why isn't my icon working? Is everyone seeing Howdy Doody, or are you seeing River from Firefly?

Your icon is fine. River is showing.

As for the episode, I'm looking forward to it. The questions about the lost time will finally be answered!

Thanks man, I was worried about that!

I'm going out of town tomorrow night, so I'm going to have to rely on the kindness of others to tape it for me!

Not a bad filler episode a little back-story on New Caprica and wow Starbuck is an idiot. She takes her commitment issues out on Apollo and needs to fight him because of it. I'm glad Adama went down even though he is strong evidenced with his sparring with Apollo it would have been a cheat to let him win. Plus we got the chance to hear another guilty/respective Adama speech. Hope Lee stays with Dualla it would be a shame to break up a marriage and ruin things for Anders over someone as flaky as Starbuck.
