Roslin: (discussing Baltar with Adama) We tried the stick. It's time to try the carrot. The thing he's most deeply afraid of is that even if he talks, we'll kill him.
Tigh: Smart man.
Doc Cottle: Admiral! We're losing him! That's enough. I'm putting an end to this freak show right now!
(Roslin nods in agreement)
Baltar: She... Caprica Six... she chose me. Chose me over all men. Chosen to be seduced, taken by the hand, guided between the light and the dark. But is she an angel, or is she a demon? Is she imaginary or is she real? Is she my own voice, or the voice of --
Roslin: Doctor, did you conspire with [Caprica Six] to subvert our defense system?
Baltar: Conspiracy requires intent. I never intended -- but then she said deep down, I'd always suspected. But I didn't know. How could I know? Did I conspire? Did I? No! No! I don't know. No. It wasn't my fault. It wasn't my fault! It -- I am not responsible!
Baltar: (grabs photo off the wall) This man, his name is Adrian Bauer. He was my lab assistant for three years on Caprica.
Roslin: (shouting) So what?
Baltar: He was Gemenese. I got him a visa. I introduced him to his wife. I am godfather to their first child. I wouldn't do anything to harm this man or his family, or anybody's family. I am not a murderer! I am innocent! Why won't you believe me?
Kara: You're being awfully accommodating.
Anders: Is that how it looks to you?
Kara: Your estranged, two-timing bitch of a wife calls you up for a quickie and you hop on the first shuttle? I'd say, yeah.
Anders: Do you love him?
Anders: Lee, Kara. Do you love Lee?
Kara: Gods, Sam. (pause) Maybe. I don't know.
Anders: Then you gotta go to him.
Dee: I did see this coming, and I was naïve enough to marry you anyway. And you wanna know why, Lee? 'Cause I loved you. I loved you so frakking much. I thought I was lucky. That's right, lucky. That I could have you for just as long as you, or Kara, would let me.
Lee: Dee, come on.
Dee: It's not a marriage, Lee. This is a lie. You wanna be with Kara, go ahead. I won't stand in your way. It's over.
Baltar: (under interrogation) No! Don't leave me! Don't leave me! I know I'm flawed. I never claimed to be... Yeah, mistakes, mistakes were made, terrible mistakes. Were they mine? Was I solely to blame? I was a player, that's all. I was a player. I was struggling, struggling to find my place in God's plan. God's resolve. I -- , I never intended for some things to happen. Doesn't that matter?
Roslin: The Final Five... Cylons?
Baltar: I thought I might be one of them. I told them I wanted to be one of them.
Roslin: A Cylon? Why?
Baltar: All my sins forgiven. A new beginning.
Roslin: Are you a Cylon, Dr. Baltar?
Roslin: (about Baltar) I told him I didn't take any satisfaction in seeing his pain. But the truth is I was willing to see him endure a great deal of suffering in order to get what I wanted. It wasn't some intelligence or some truth. I wanted a genuine admission of guilt.
Adama: That's something that you're not gonna get from someone like Baltar. He doesn't see himself that way. It's not who he is. In his eyes, he's the victim, not the criminal. (pause) It's not too late for him to just... disappear.
Roslin: We can't do that. For all his crimes, he's one of us.
Number Six: Well, you're not one of the Five. You certainly have the luck of the Gods.
Baltar: Well, I am the Chosen One.
Number Six: You didn't go tell them that, did you? Hmm?
Baltar No. Everybody's gotta have a secret.
Kara: Kara Thrace and her special destiny? That sounds more like a bad cover band, Sam.
(at Joe's bar)
Lee: Uh, Chief, you can tell me if I'm out of line here but, um... do you ever think about Sharon?
Tyrol: (looks at his drink) No.
Lee: Come on. You never wonder "what if"?
Tyrol: No. (finishes his drink and walks off)
Roslin: (talking about Baltar) He's holding a lot back, Admiral. I'm sure of it.
Adama: Then maybe we should resort to more direct methods.
Tigh: Direct methods. Now you have my vote.
Tyrol: (proposing a toast to Lee) Ah... to marriage. Why we build bars.
Grace Park was listed in the opening credits but she did not appear in the episode. Recurring guest star Tahmoh Penikett did not appear either.
In the extended version of the bonus scene shown online after the show, Caprica Six promises President Roslin that if Gaius is given a fair trial, she will be the chief witness and divulge everything she knows.
James Callis read the "Previously on Battlestar Galactica" line at the beginning of this episode.
In the beginning of this episode, there are 41,403 survivors, 2 more than in the previous episode. One person died in "Rapture" but Baltar and Hera returned to the Colonial fleet. The survivor count apparently includes Caprica Six, who accompanied Athena back to Galactica.
This is Edward James Olmos' second turn as director for an episode of the series. He previously directed "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down" from Season One.
In another connection with the 80s TV series Cheers, some of the scenes took place at a new bar on Galactica -- Joe's Bar. Perhaps it's "where everyone knows your name."
The episode title appears to refer to the theme song from the hit TV series Cheers (1982-1993):
Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got
Takin' a break from all your worries sure would help a lot
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You want to be where you can see
Troubles are all the same
You want to be where everybody knows your name
You want to go where people know
People are all the same You want to go where everybody knows your name
