- Torn/Tron The Hybrid ends its sentences with the phrase, "end of line." In the movie Tron, the Master Control Program also finished its sentences with this phrase. Additionally, the episode title Torn is an anagram of Tron.

- Athena Sharon's call sign Athena is a reference to the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, weaving, and certain crafts. Athena was born fully grown from her father Zeus' forehead, and fully armed.

- Because she considers "Boomer" a separate person, Sharon Agathon receives a new call sign: Athena. This is a reference both to the ancient Greek god and to the character Athena in the original Battlestar Galactica series. Athena was Commander Adama's only daughter. She served as a bridge officer, although she also piloted a Viper in combat in the episode Lost Planet of the Gods, Part 1 when most of Galactica's pilots were incapacitated by a deadly disease. In Season 3, Admiral Adama treats Sharon Agathon almost like a daughter, an honor he previously bestowed upon Kara "Starbuck" Thrace.
