In the opening scene on the beach in Baltar's dream, the mouths of Baltar and Number Six were blurred out to allow the insertion of completely different dialogue than was originally shot.
Some of the proposed (and rejected) call signs for Sharon Agathon were Chrome Dome, Titania, Micro Chick, Digital Dame, Raptor Adaptor, Windup Toy, Tin Can and Vermin Chaser.
Doral: The Hybrid objects.
D'Anna/Number Three: She doesn't get a vote. Jump the ship.
Baltar: What do you care about finding Earth?
Caprica Six: Because we're looking for it.
Baltar: You are.
D'Anna/Number Three: Yes, we've decided that Earth's going to be our new home.
(in Baltar's daydream)
Baltar: Right. I think I understand projection, but it's a bit of a coincidence, isn't it? That I could see such a vivid reality that I've created and the Cylon projection experience seems to be so similar.
Number Six: Is it a coincidence?
Baltar: Well what are you saying. There's a connection? What, because of my experiences with you.... Am I a Cylon?
Caprica Six: What was that?
Caprica Six: Instead of staring at blank walls, I choose to surround myself with a vision of God's creation.
Adama: (to Kara) You were like a daughter to me once. No more. You're a malcontent and a cancer, and I won't have you on my ship. So you have a choice. You can figure out how to become a human being again and an officer, or you can find another place to live, off of this ship. You're dismissed.
Adama: (to Kara and Tigh) Now one of you, and I don't care who, pick that weapon up and shoot me.
Kara: Admiral, I don't know…
Adama: I didn't say to talk. You've done enough of that already. I said to pick up that weapon and shoot. What's the matter? No guts. You don't got a pair? You're both frakking cowards.
Number Six: (to Baltar) And if you're really a Cylon, one of the final five you haven't seen yet, then wouldn't you just rather get it over with and die?
Tyrol: How'd you land this thing, Captain?
Starbuck: Pointed it toward the deck and stopped when I got here.
Athena: When God's anger awakens, even the mighty shall fall.
Kara: (to Julia Brynn) You seem like a really nice person so I'm gonna be honest with you. The last thing I need is a 2-year-old friend and Kacey sure as hell does not need me in her life. So do us both a favor and do not bring her around here again, okay?
James Callis read the "Previously on Battlestar Galactica" line at the beginning of this episode.
Caprica Six explains the process of "Projecting." Cylons can choose to see their environment in any form they wish, whenever they wish.
As of the beginning of this episode, there are 41,422 survivors.
This episode reveals that a (human-Cylon) Hybrid appears to act as the central brain of the Cylon baseship.
Director Jean de Segonzac was listed incorrectly in the opening credits as Jean de Segoznac, with the letters "z" and "n" transposed.
Baltar learns from Caprica Six that the seven Cylon models that have been shown to date do not like to talk about the other five models.
Sharon Agathon receives the call sign "Athena" in this episode to distinguish her from "Boomer."
The Hybrid ends its sentences with the phrase, "end of line." In the movie Tron, the Master Control Program also finished its sentences with this phrase. Additionally, the episode title Torn is an anagram of Tron.
The Hybrid is reminiscent of the Precogs from the movie Minority Report.
Sharon's call sign Athena is a reference to the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, weaving, and certain crafts. Athena was born fully grown from her father Zeus' forehead, and fully armed.
Because she considers "Boomer" a separate person, Sharon Agathon receives a new call sign: Athena.
This is a reference both to the ancient Greek god and to the character Athena in the original Battlestar Galactica series. Athena was Commander Adama's only daughter. She served as a bridge officer, although she also piloted a Viper in combat in the episode "Lost Planet of the Gods, Part 1" when most of Galactica's pilots were incapacitated by a deadly disease.
In Season 3, Admiral Adama treats Sharon Agathon almost like a daughter, an honor he previously bestowed upon Kara "Starbuck" Thrace.
