As Admiral Adama reads through Kara's personnel record, the first disciplinary notice reads:
COLONIAL FORCES TRAINING COMMAND
Lieutenant Kara Thrace is charged with:
Assault on a superior officer
Drunk and disorderly conduct while on leave
Disobeying a direct order from a superior officer
Absent from duty without leave
Corporal Thrace is charged with the above offenses. It should be noted that there is a string of verbal reprimands and notices over the past seven cycles.
Lieutenant Thrace states that while she is guilty of none of the above-mentioned charges she only wishes to challenge the AWOL charge. She points out that her 'self-assigned' duty has resulted in the destruction of a Cylon vessel and that she has received a commendation from the action.
Despite this it is the opinion of this disciplinary commission that Lieutenant Thrace should be disciplined under xxx xxx xxx xxx Military Code (Section 969-0898).
It should be noted that Thrace's rank changes between corporal and lieutenant in this document. In another of the disciplinary notices read by Adama, she is also referred to as a private.
During the opening credits, when we see glimpses of the episode's scenes, we can clearly see Baltar tossing away his mattress in search of something. However, this scene was not used in the episode's final cut.
According to the Record of Disciplinary Proceedings in her personnel file, Kara served on the Battlestar Triton when she was a JrLt.
Before Lampkin questions Tigh, he discusses Tigh with Baltar and Lee at the table. Lampkin holds a glass of water that is about two-thirds full. As the camera view shifts, the glass is only one-third full. Lampkin did not have time to drink any water in that fraction of a second.
At the beginning of Baltar's trial, President Roslin is seated next to Tory, behind the prosecutor's table, but after the camera focus moves around the courtroom and returns, Roslin is no longer there.
After the conversation between Tigh and Adama regarding the music that Tigh was hearing, Tigh says, "There's too much confusion" and "There must be some kind of way out of here." These are lines from "All Along the Watchtower," the song that is featured in this episode.
When Starbuck flies alongside Apollo in the Season 3 finale ("Crossroads, Part 2"), the side of her Viper has no nameplate on it. However, in this episode (which is the Season 4 premiere), the nameplate that reads "Kara Thrace 'Starbuck'" is visible once she lands aboard Galactica. The action in this episode takes place immediately after the events of the Season 3 finale.
In the Season 3 finale, Anders has a very noticeable limp, which is visible when he's following Chief Tyrol to the flight deck. However, in the Season 4 premiere, he has no limp at all even though the story takes place during the same day.
Samuel Anders reveals that he was born on Picon (or so he believes).
On the wall behind Lee and Admiral Adama during Lee's farewell is a plaque containing rank patches for some US Air Force enlisted and ROTC ranks.
As Lee receives his official farewell, he shakes hands with all major characters from the Galactica, except Colonel Tigh. This is a subtle acknowledgment to their respective grudges dating back to Lee's mutiny in "Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part 2."
The model numbers of all seven human-form Cylons (not including the Final Five) are revealed in this episode:
No. 1 - Cavil
No. 2 - Leoben Conoy
No. 3 - D'Anna Biers
No. 4 - Simon
No. 5 - Aaron Doral
No. 6 - Number Six
No. 7 - ???
No. 8 - Sharon Valerii
Nitpick: Cally and Galen sleep with their heads at the end of the bed that is farthest from Nicky's crib. In Season 3, and in Cally's flashbacks of their lovemaking, they sleep with their heads at the other end of the bed.
In the scene where the rebel Cylon fleet jumps into the ambush, the stars of the Orion constellation are visible on the left side of the screen, including the three prominent stars that make up the "belt" of Orion.
Lee Adama joins the Quorum of the Twelve in this episode as the Colonial delegate representing Caprica.
The action in this episode takes place three weeks after the events of the previous episode, "Six of One."
Kara Thrace's crew aboard the freighter Demetrius includes at least nine other individuals. Among them are Sharon "Athena" Agathon, Karl "Helo" Agathon, Felix Gaeta, Diana Seelix, Lt. "Gonzo" Pike, the unnamed tattooed pilot (played by Leo Li Chiang), and Kara's husband, Samuel Anders. At least one of the crew members (Anders) volunteered for the mission (to find Earth).
Goof: When Tigh, Tyrol and Foster are shown in the teaser, Colonel Tigh is wearing the rank insignia of an admiral.
The pendant Baltar takes from Lily does not feature the rod of Asclepius, which has only one serpent, but the Caduceus, which has two serpents. The Caduceus is associated with Mercury and commerce, rather than healing, but these two symbols are often confused in the United States.
In the "Previously On" segment, during the scene in which Cally listened in on the meeting between Tyrol, Tigh, and Tory, a shot of Sam was used, implying that he was present during this meeting and that Cally knew the identities of all four of the hidden Cylons. However, this was not true as Sam was onboard the Demetrius on the mission to locate Earth and was thus absent from the meeting.
