When Allie was eight, her brother's best friend drowned. That incident is a large part of why she became a lifeguard.
Jason: (about Jessie and Kekoa) They're just a couple of sleek jungle cats, about to duke it out and see who runs things. JD: Lionesses, fighting over the pride. I love that. Jason: Exactly, you don't even factor in. JD: How old are you, 20? Jason: 19. JD: What makes you think you know so much? Jason: Intense personal experience and hours on the Discovery Channel.
Jason: Chicks dig cowboys. JD: You're a lifeguard!
Sean: Look, it's no great mystery. Got married too young, it didn't work out. Allie: Your choice or hers? Sean: Well, it's a little more complicated than that. Allie: Any kids? Sean: Not that complicated.
Sean: So what great treasures have you found? Allie: The truth? Sean: Yeah, why not? Allie: Not a bloody thing!
Allie: You don't like talking about yourself. Sean: No, not particularly. It bores me. Allie: Well everyone's story is the same, only different.
Allie: That's what happens when you spend all your time looking out at the water, you miss some of the great stuff on the land.
Sean: I was a kid, I don't know 6 or 7, and my parents took me to the beach and there was this man in red swimming trunks. He seemed like a giant to me, he was a lifeguard. There was something about him, a confidence. No, it was a sense of purpose is what it was. Some kids, you know they see a fireman, or an airplane pilot. I saw a lifeguard. Ever since then, that's what I wanted to be.
Sean: Let's just say that we did bump of these jars, what kind of problems are you talking about? Hawaiian man: Well, your body parts begin to fall off.
