Beastmaster

Dar and Tao are travelling to find a treat for the ferrets. They observe a group of men traveling towards a mountain rumored to hold a liquid rock that gives the holder control over life and death. Tao talks about a beast that protects the liquid rock. Next they witness one of the men killed by what they believe to be a lion. Tao joins the men, while Dar attempts to find the lion. Instead he finds a woman with magical powers, who tells him the men are not holy men. Another man is killed in the group, and Dar eventually catches up with Tao, learning that the group of men are looking for the liquid rock. They follow them and are able to stop all but two of the men. The two men continue and find the liquid rock and the leader, Ramah, takes it, while the other man is killed by the beast. Dar and Tao also encounter the beast, which turns out to be the giver of life and taker of life, symbolized by the yin-yang sign, and who is able to split it two. They taker of life wants to kill Dar, but he is saved by Sharak, who is immortal, landing on arm. Dar is then able to get the liquid rock from Ramah, but Ruh is killed in the process. As reward for his work, the giver of life restores Ruh.
