After the mysterious death of a rising young ballerina, Vincent suspects that the understudy, Victoria, may be withholding information about the murder. Cat and Tess learn that the victim tried to file a police report for an assault before she died. Meanwhile, Cat turns to Vincent for help in deciphering a medical paper found in her mother's belongings, and J.T. starts to worry that Cat's visits to the warehouse loft leave Vincent vulnerable to discovery by Muirfield's agents. Catherine pushes Vincent to help her learn more about the Muirfield project, but when Vincent refuses, Cat proceeds on her own, until a virus wipes her computer clean. Tess starts dating again, but quickly finds out that she's unknowingly involved with a married man. Cat's sister, Heather, moves out of Cat's apartment as she becomes more uncomfortable with Cat's quest for more answers about their mother's death.

Catherine: I swear I used to be a normal person.
Vincent: From where I stand you seem pretty normal.
Catherine: Well, so much for your super senses.
Catherine: (closing voice-over) The thing is, it's hard to always stay inside the lines. So we do the best we can. But somewhere along the way, I forgot that if you care about someone, you need to pay attention to their lines, too. Like I said, being a detective is all about drawing lines, but being human I think maybe it's about knowing how and when to cross them... together.
Vincent: I heard you were looking for me. You can't just show up at my place like that anymore.
Catherine: Says the guy disturbing my crime scene.
Catherine: (opening voice-over) Being a detective is about drawing lines, the lines between us and them, good guys and bad guys, perp and victim. Then there are the lines we draw to protect ourselves, rules, protocol. It's about not crossing those lines, because when you do bad things can happen.
