  • A good ending to a hilarious show.

Jake walks into the diner with some ideas on how to spend the money he's got. Hector follows Jake in after a minute and asks Chris if she could look over his resume. He lied a bit, of course, by putting Harvard as where he was educated. After a minute passes, John walks in to get coffee, he's also late for work. Chris asks John if he'd be interested in watching some old family movies, from when she was a kid. John says yes, and asks if she wants to go out sometime for dinner. Chris agrees, and after John leaves, she's worried because she thinks he wants to break up with her. This was rather silly to see Chris over-react to the situation.

At the office, Linda shows a guy where she works. She just met him, and they can't seem to keep their lips apart from one another. Her boyfriend doesn't speak any English, so she just makes up whatever he says. Margaret tells John about a patient who was admitted to the hospital with more heart problems. This was another Linda-as-usual scene.

John and Margaret, now at the hospital, go to see Mr. Gordon. Not only is he having problems with his heart, but he's having problems with his kidneys. Mr. Gordon tells John that this time at the hospital, it feels different, like he won't make it. I was a little surprised to see Margaret get so emotional, I didn't quite understand that.

Back at the diner, Chris is serving Linda and her boyfriend, but they're busy kissing. Chris walks away to talk to Jake about John. Hector comes in, dressed up, and tells Jake and Chris that he was offered a job for $50,000, but he turned it down. He felt that with his (made-up) qualifications, he should have been offered more money. John then walks in to see Linda and her boyfriend still kissing. John tells Chris that he's looking forward to the dinner. After he leaves, she still can't believe that she's going to be dumped, she wants to make this night terrible for him. She laughs off Jake's idea of just taking to him about it.

Jake walks into the office, and talks to Margaret. He says he's planning to spend the money on a boat, well half of a boat. He's going to split the price of a big boat with a friend. Margaret can't believe what she's hearing and smacks him.

John walks into the diner, and Linda and her boyfriend are still kissing. Margaret follows John into the diner, and tells him about the patient who is at the hospital. Jake then walks in to tell everyone that he's leaving. He is planning to use the $25,000 to go to college in Chicago. He's leaving the newsstand to Hector to take care of. John gets a call about his patient and leaves.

Chris decides to go visit John. She's tired of waiting for Friday. John tells her that he doesn't want to break up with her. He tells her that Mr. Gordon passed away, and that when he died, he was content. John said he's finally feeling a little happy, like Mr. Gordon was. I didn't have too much of a problem with the way this ended. No matter how you end a series, you know you can't please everyone, and I think this "I'm finally happy" ending was fitting, yet somewhat predictable.
