  • The heart wants what the heart wants.

Jake gets a new customer in the diner, but she's blind. He doesn't know it at first, and asks her out on a date. Dinner went well, except for the beginning and end. Since they're both blind, Jake didn't know Nina was at the restaurant already, and thought he was being stood up. At the end, they both got caught up in the revolving door.

Margaret has a problem with an elderly woman who doesn't seem to like her. Because of a schedule problem, Margaret asks Linda to go to the woman's house for her homecare. Apparently, she shares stories with her, and when Margaret finds out, she's both jealous and a little angry.

Jake has a problem with the woman after he finds out that she's blind, and he doesn't call her after their date. Reggie doesn't like that kind of attitude, but Jake says "the heart wants what the heart wants". Jake later decides that maybe he was wrong, and asks to meet her at the diner.

When the elderly woman, Enid, finds a rash, she calls for John to come over and take a look. Before he leaves, he mentions how nice Enid is, and Margaret is angry again, and decides to tag along with John.

When they get to Enid's home, John says it's likely a reaction to a medication and he'd call the pharmacy to get it changed. John leaves, but Margaret stays behind to confront Enid on why she is so mean to her. Enid says she simply doesn't like her. "Some people you like, some you don't", she says.

At the diner, Nina and Jake meet and Jake comes clean about his thoughts about them both being blind, and he says "it's crazy, that's like you not wanting to go out with me again because I'm black". The look on her face changes, and she says that she doesn't want to go out with a black man (she's white, btw). She decides to leave and silence fills the diner. Jake, John, and Reggie are all surprised about that. Jake, after collecting his thoughts, says "the heart wants, what the heart wants", just like the dilemna he had earlier.

This wasn't too bad of an episode, but it wasn't great.
