Episode Recap
The younger brother of the Bee Gees, Andy was a teen pop idol, and had already racked up three number one hits before he was 22. The world was his for the taking. From there, however, his career faltered, his drug use became destructive, and Victoria Principal, the love of his life, left him. This is the first time the three older Gibbs talk about Andy's substance abuses. Also for the first time, Ms. Principal talks about their breakup, and the reasons behind it. Even with the strong support his loved ones offered, Andy was damaged beyond repair. As his career tailed off, he took the hosting job on the show 'Solid Gold', and the clips from that period demonstrate in effective detail the decline of a person out of control. We also hear some unreleased recordings Andy made that ominously predict his death. Other people interviewed include Pam Dawber, Marilyn McCoo, Marie Osmond, and producer Robert Stigwood. But it is the loss expressed by Victoria, Robin, Barry, and Maurice, that emphasizes to us vividly the sadness caused by cocaine.
